Gunslinger, check the Wiki for all of the pieces of text, and images we've collected so far. If you have something that doesn't appear there, then you might have something new.

I'm not sure, I looked over the site and couldn't find anything that menioned multiple distorted versions of the Farnsworth pic. I tried to run both JPHIDE/SEEK and Outguess-0.2/stegdetect, but they didn't work. I currently have 3 distorted versions of the pic, however I noticed some distortion in the original pic in PSP. It could be from when the original pic was saved as JPEG, but you never know. I could give them to someone so they can check them for me, but I'll have to e-mail them to you. Any takers?

I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere (hopefully I'm not being stupid and overlooking a thread somewhere), so I thought I'd point it out: the "awry/bystander" message is the *second* message that's been written in that exact font and color. The first is on the "Contact me!" page, immediately above the ladybee777 email address. and says "problem quite interesting". It was there before the network throttling eroded. Probably not very important, but it is another bit of evidence linking the emails with the green text.

There's only two versions of each pic. The unaltered normal version and the altered one. The altered version is bascially the normal pic with text added into the hex structure in it. All distorted versions of the same pic contains the same text in them. So multiple versions of distortions doesn't really mean anything as we are interested in the text in them, at least that's how it works so far.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the pics contain different parts of the phrase that was listed at the Wiki, each slash represents a different piece of text found in the different varients (when viewed with notepad at least). Either way, my theory appears to be a dead end, so it doesn't matter unless it gets altered during the next phase. Oh well, good day.

The obvious meaning here is "I found an innocent bystander, can you find him/her/it too?" I thought about it a while though, and my personal opinion is that it may be a simple play on words.

found an innocent bystander. Can you(?)

Can you stand by, or can you stand innocently by? Implying either "Stand by for further communication from me" or "Maybe you should try harder at being an innocent bystander...you're making it kind of angry." But what do I know? Very Happy

This is what I make of the line.

"I was looking at your site [which looks] a little awry and [I] have found an innocent bystander. Can you [find an innocent bystander](?)"

Is it at all possible that WE are the innocent bystander(s)? Maybe it means that we are getting caught up in this whole puzzle, and asks if we realize that (we/there) are innocent victims of this?

Actually, I believe it's the third such green message. There is also one on honey.html: "At this time, I am unable to sell honey because of an infestation of varrao mites in my hives. I hope to be back in business soon!" This is also the only place on ILB that actually mentions those curiously misspelled mites (apparently they really ought to be "varroa" mites, as reported in numerous other threads).

If current SPEC is, as it seems to be, that these green messages are from the Pious Flea or whoever it is that is answering the ladybee777 e-mails, then this begs several questions:

(1) Do Aunt Margaret's hives actually have a mite infestation of any kind? Did Dana ever actually confirm this to anyone? Maybe this message wasn't part of her original site at all.

(2) It has been mentioned that mites have eight legs, just like spiders. Could the mites be a reference to SPDR preventing the Flea from performing its normal function?

(3) Is the misspelling a deliberate clue left by the Flea?

(4) How can we help with the infestation, and get the Flea "back in business"?

(5) Do we want the Flea to be back in business? There is plenty of flying SPEC regarding which side we ought to be on in this dispute, and I haven't seen anything conclusive. Frankly, I'm not convinced that anyone is a "bad guy" yet.

(Caveat: I have to admit, I do feel tremendously sympathetic toward the Flea, or whoever is writing to us in the killer.jpg pictures:

Quote:
It feels it has been abandoned
please communicate it makes everything better
sort of are alone
sort of are scared

Poor little thing.)

I got a reply from dana saying "fortunately the v. mites keep her pretty distracted, so it's easier to keep her a bit out of the
loop for now."

So she did confirm there was mites. Also I sugested a way to remove them but she did not saying anything about that in her reply.

Heh, I guess I overlooked that third green message. But it was definitely on the site before everything started: Here's another bit of proof. I do like your speculation, though.

Shame there's no picture of the contactme.html page.

Yes, a while ago. And knowing how it speaks as of now, I gave it a message composed of pieces of text from the website, edited slightly in the probably vain hope that it would get the message more clearly:

Quote:
HONEY has healing qualities, too! Ancient Egyptians USEd IT on wounds because GERMS CANNOT GROW IN HONEY.

hope to be back in business soon!

Love,

A raw dictionary text isn't going to work to well. For instance, suppose I sent you this.

These are some nounds:
Blarg. Blig. Wort Wort., Wibble. DIbble. Doobie scooby. Whip wing.

These are some verbs.
Ni!, Herring, Shrubery, Homsar, Kirk, Dingleberry, Whipersnaper.

With out context, it cant use them if it is learning, and if its trying to avoid detection then it will refuse to use them.

Attached was honey.txt, an appropriately renamed and pretty comprehensive dictionary-list text file.

I sent it to both Dana and ladybee777, on the thought that Dana's e-mail might have been repurposed by now as well, at least in part.
