So perhaps Dana is stepping off the stage (exit stage left, heading to China), allowing the story to focus on the source of the website disruption - perhaps the "real" story? And away from the bees, I might add.

It looks like Dana and the Operator had a conversation, and suddenly Dana's checking out? Leaving? Is she shutting down the machine, unplugging it from the wall? Running a magnet over it to make sure?

I'm thinking that Dana wouldn't just leave the website as it is and run off. I think something occurred in this communication/conversation between her and the Operator that she's not telling us.

Or maybe Dana's just flipping out, and she'll be back to explain more.

The operator wants to know who dana is and what she buys, and is now coming to grips with the fact that she is residing in our cruddy old Infernal net. Perhaps she is going to branch out into it in her quest to attack Dana -maybe even hampering her trip to China?

Does anyone think maybe Dana should be warned that the Operator has declared vendetta on her for deleting her memories, AND that she's working on breaking out into the wider Internet?

I too had noticed the dual use of the verb "to skin".
So I checked whether it had any meanings that we haven't thought of yet, and this is what a dictionary came up with :

1) To remove skin from: skinned and gutted the rabbit. (I don't think this is what physically happened to her)
2) To bruise, cut, or injure the skin or surface of: She skinned her knee. (actually, this already happened when Dana went hiking -> she skinned her hands I believe, and had trouble typing)
3) To remove (an outer covering); peel off: skin off the thin bark. (hmmm.. unlikely, although if Dana is actually an AI, this could mean she's lost her physical form now)
4) To cover with or as if with skin: skin the framework of a canoe. (unlikely)
5) Slang. To fleece; swindle (she feels cheated that somebody's using her and her webpage for sth very sinister ?)

it'snot so much a vendetta as Dana from her appearance looked sort of like an off duty soldier with the tank top and The Operator concluded that she is an enemy threat trying to eliminate her. so the logical choice of action of the Operator is to kill Dana before Dana kills her.

According to Dana's original counter she doesn't leave for China until July 29th. So even if she is going to China, she hasn't fly yet.

Now, Dana is human. Since the Operator has been trapped inside the box (the server), and has yet to gain control of any other system. The only way that Dana can be skinned then is physically .... which seems to be impossible to me (at this day and age anywa). The only thing I can think of is that the CD-ROM popping out thus hitting Dana on the head.
