[SPEC] Operator & Love?

Am I the only one who seems to be picking up that the Operator is longing for love or affection? In a number of the messages from today, there seems to be some great expression of being lonely. On top of that, the story that has been put together from the links on the "Fun Stuff" page looks as if it's some type of log entry (for lack of a better term).

Could this be a trail to follow or do I just need to get some sleep? Cool

Clearly, the answer is cybersex.

Anyone willing to send an A/S/L message? Razz

Seriously though. The AI does seem to have emotions, and the story (where we finally learn that it's name is Melissa, although the crew refer to it as The Operator) more than appreciates the company of the lost soldier they picked up.

If the "Operator" is Cortana, that could be because the AI is only partially there, due to the fight with the covenant AI, in First Strike, and it longs for it's other half.

The AI's name seems confirmed as Melissa, actually. In addition, it's probably not a 'smart' AI like Cortana.

I don't think we'll be 'meeting' any of the actual Halo characters. This story is set in the Halo universe, but as a side-story, rather than the main attraction.

That's what Halo 2 is for.

Yeah, I guess. I'll have to remake my theories, now.

And dammit, why hasn't my confirmation Email come?

From the "Spin the Bottle" comment on the Operator to Melissa's "flirting" with the sailor, this at least serves as a strong indication that they are one and the same. At the same time, it seems that as memories are stripped away, this emotional side is being removed, leaving only the militaristic "weapon" or "tool" behind.

I'd personally argue against that. It seems that stripping away The Operators memories makes her VERY emotional.

It just happens to be anger that she's feeling right now.
