Great solve guys! I wish I could have stayed up and been there until the end! I was rereading the log and noticed that an hour or so before the solve enaxor almost had it...

Wow, I totally forgot about that - we probably would have solved it right then and there, if we hadn't started joking around about marijuana and then switched gears... whoops.

Though I don't remember who said it, we tried this last night and whoever it was said they didn't find anything... can anyone confirm that?

I am the Mole.
No, seriously, I have nothing to do with any of that. I can't imagine trying to work BTS stuff here and still try to play ILB. I don't have a death wish.
The only thing I can think of is what Marduk mentioned here and that our own names are being hidden in various places. Two names could still be a coincidence, but then what are the odds of that last name showing up in the .wmv?
/me starts to play Twilight Zone music.

Wow, now that is what I call beating us over the head with the solution. jc must have been thinking we were hopeless...

Missed it! Well, my plans to be around the other night died, confound it.
I'm bouncing in anticipation of seeing the files. They were here when I first visited the thread, but I accidentally closed the window and when I came back, they were gone. Hurry up fixing them! /me winks
EDIT: And of course, the moment I post this they come back. Oiy. Anyway, thanks to all you busy bees (uh oh, I've crossed the ARG streams now) who solved this one.

The article The name in the newspaper article talking about Napoleon is "Barthlomew". All the letter parts on the bottom fit.
But is it a first name or a last name?

Looking at pfile4, the newspaper clipping:
I can see something in the area between the first paragraph of the article and "Some Residents Unconvinced". It looks like a box, in a grey slightly darker than the paper's colour, with what might be some text inside. There's also a black dot below the "n" in "next", which might be just above some letter.
Could someone with better image-manipulation skills than I have a look? It might be something, or my eyes might just be seeing things (which I wouldn't put them past!)

From what I can tell after taking a look at it is that there is a dot under the n, which is common with newsprint and the darker area is most likely a darker box on the other side of the paper showing through.

Simple zooming in finds nothing helpful. Nothing? (As soon as I say "it's definitely nothing" then it becomes a cornerstone of the game.)

Here's the clipping picture with the contrast improved - I think it's something showing through from the other side.
