Re: [question] combining two threads

in another thread someone suggested trying to communicate with the AI that is embedding test in the killer pics by encoding our own info in some pictures and sending the like to aunt M's hotmail. i know people keep saying that this whole thread is out of game but to me that is a great idea. I will keep lurking and contribute when i can, the problem is that when i think of something good you people have already beaten me to it.
thanks,

That person was me. Thanks for thinking it's a good idea.
I just hate the fact (In real life, too) that when I actually have a worthwhile idea, and everyone tries it, I get no credit for it.
But it might not work anyway.

Hacking the box should be considered out of game, and you pretty much shouldn't do it, unless there is expressly a hint towards doing it, which I doubt there ever would be. Gaining info is great and all, but once again, the whole out the PM and pull back the curtain is anti-game at best. Whats the point? To sit there and go, "Ha ha, I caught you Mr(s). PM Man/Woman"...then what? Illusion ruined. Kinda wish people would stop going on duck hunts for who the PM's are, and use all that technical knowledge to pull off things that will further the game. There is no way you can tell me you honestly thought that a PM would want you to try to track their e-mail for puzzling purposes. They wouldn't make us shoot in the dark like that.
As for your other guys ideas of sending the AI picture with text embedded, go for it. That is in-game. Might not work, but its perfectly within reason to think that the entity might want you to communicate that way. .

I should think the writing should be simple as the Flea/Princess cannot speak English very well

Use the killer.jpg image, I think.

I'm not so sure. For one thing, current SPEC is that the Pious Flea is the author of the Widow's Journey story, which certainly betokens a decent knowledge of English. I think (and I don't think I'm the only one who thinks this) that the only reason the messages in the killer.jpg pictures are in more-or-less broken English is because the Flea, or whoever it is, is using only pieces of e-mails sent to ladybee777SPLAT hotmail.com -- in order to avoid detection by SPDR -- and therefore has limited phrases from which to construct its messages.

I say HAL, but then again, I'm a 2001 fan.
Also, any good freeware hex editors out there? I want to try my hand at a touch of steganography.
