I haven't gotten a chance to listen to it yet (I'm at work with no speakers). Are you guys sure it's Mandarin? Or is it just that voice backwards can sound weird sometimes?

it doesn't have that "air being sucked in" quality that backwards speaking does, and it's definitly Dana's voice saying something. Given the personality of our lovely young contact, i don't think that its in-character for her to leave a cryptic backwards masked message on her VM. She sounds rather sad and distant, she's going to miss her mom, and she's stressed out from all of this.

it however MIGHT be a clue wo where in China she's heading.......

Something just hit me. Aunt M comments on dana being like the daughter she never had, aswell as saying she never got on with Dana's mom Chloe.

Dana suddenly decides she wants to go to china to discover herself again. This sounds like she found out something and is getting to terms with it.

Now i looked at the pictures. Is it just me or does Dana look a lot more like Aunt M then Chloe? The hair colour is exactly the same aswell as the smile?

What if we are looking at Dana leaving because she discovered that Aunt M was her mother. Aunt M is a Christian id guess from the school system she worked in. Wouldn't a devout christan want to hide a child born out of wedlock, thus she gave her daughter to Chloe.

Now Dana finds out and decides to leave both Aunt M and Chloe. The current message on her voicemail, suggests she is never coming back and that this is a way to remeber her (remarks about her voice)

Now what if the Queen is here because she understood or associated with this relationship, with Aunt M's realtionship to her child Dana, like the Queen to the sleeping princess.

Ideas on this very complicated theory of mine?

The phone number is off of a whois lookup on the ilovebees.com domain.

Boy am I glad I am chinese Rock On

After listening to the MP3 for about 20 times, I'm pretty confident she is saying "I am not coming back. Sorry."

In Mandarin it would be pronounce "Ngaw mei lui lai, Dui bu chi". And yes, her manadarin is horrid. In fact it would have been been better if she said "Ngaw bu wui wui lai. Dui bu chi". In her current chinese form, it is not in proper mandarin.

P.S. First post! Been lurking for the last couple of weeks waiting for a chance to contribute. Yay!

Welcome to the group, Kilmar! And thanks for the translation.

Now the question is, since her Mandirin IS so horrible, is there some way to mis-translate what she said? Like by Pronouncing it the way she did would change the meaning?

In a tonal language? Hell yeah. All to easy for bad speakers to confuse meanings. "I'm not coming back" seems to fit though.
And right now we've really only got the one Mandarin speaker Smile (tnx btw) So we'll just have to take his word for it. I'm sure he's had to muddle through his fair share of bad Mandarin before.

If that's the case I will translate literally what she said.

She said literally "I do not have any coming here. Sorry". However, the sentence structure is not correct in mandarin as it doesn't work.

"Mei" in mandarin means "not", but in the numerical sense (as in "lack of" or "none"). She should have used "bu" meaning "no" in the traditional sense.

"Lei" in mandarin means "come". She should have used "Wui" which means to "come back".

"lai" means "here"

"Dui bu chi" is easy. I'm sure quite a few non-chinese people know that phrase already.

However, even with the horrible mandarin and the wrong choice of phrases, I'm very confident she means to say "I am not coming back. Sorry".

I'm glad I can help Smile

I think the fact she doesn't speak it well is a clue. Also, she is running and tring to get away... she is going as far as she can... "Dig my way to China".. she is going to the other side of the world.

Since she knows a bit of it, we probably should think someone close to her speaks it as a primary language. I would say there is a good chance, that she is going to China to visit this person that speaks it. Now that visit has turned into a stay, and then a, help me blend in with this culture and hide here.

Why would she leave a message in Mandarin on her voicemail, though? She must be expecting someone who speaks Mandarin to hear it...

Just a random idea, but when you play this new voicemail backwards, are there any hidden messages?

http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=5056

When you played the last one backwards, you can definitely hear "Get me out!".

Not at all. I think that Chloe and Dana look very similiar. Look at this picture:

Chloe is on the right, Aunt M is on the left.

Now look at this picture:

Dana is on the left and I believe that is the back of Aunt M's head on the right.
