[EMAIL] Capitallism.org

As some of your may know, at the bottom of capitallism.org in the disclaimer, ilovebees.org is linked. There is dispute whether this site was in game or not, so I e-mailed the owner with this.

Dear CAPitALLism.org,

While browsing the internet, I came upon a site called
ilovebees.com. As you may or may not know, this site has been taken
over by a 'hacker' as part of an Alternate Reality Game(ARG). Anyways,
I have become interested in this game and I am trying to figure out
what has happened to ilovebees.com. So, to the point. Your disclaimer
reads:

All content excpt otherwise indicated is copyright(c) capitallism.org
2003-2004. B&W 'manifesto-type' photos are scanned and edited from
Merriam-Webster. Copying and distribution of this page is permitted in
any medium, provided this notice is preserved, the medium is not for
profit, and the medium is not used to promote any racial
discrimination, sexual discrimination, religious discrimination,
and/or any other discrimination. Please email contact for additional
questions or press. subvert cap ilovebees

It is the last sentence I am inquiring about. What does this sentence
mean, in terms of your disclaimer, and in terms of your site? What, if
anything, do you know about ilovebees.com and its problems?

Interested,
Gutupio

I received this not long after:

Thank you for your concerns in figuring this out. I don't know how that tag got there--seems we were hacked. CAPitALLism promotes self-organizing social change. Not sure why we`d be hacked. I went to the ilovebees site, and wasn`t sure why they were hacked either.

The strange email I received after the hack, now deleted, went as follows:
*************************
disconnect dis connect. unrelated u.n. related.
spread cap
subvert queen. her majesty. get Honey from Hive.
ancients call nectar of the gods
of the angels
*************************
I see you are a good detective. Please pass this to your friends if you think they can help me out like you.

Best--

www.CAPitALLism.org

I believe this qualifies it as in game. Thank you and good night.

Are we sure this isn't some sort of joke? Come on, the e-mail he got is hilarious.

MISSION: SUBVERT QUEEN. GET HONEY FROM HIVE.

I, however do not. My suggestion would be to make damn sure that a site is in-game before proclaiming it to be so. Anyone could cut and paste the code, and then pass off some sort of 'strange email' as related to this game.

I'm gonna wait and see on this one, but my gut tells me that this is a hoax (for whatever purpose).

Keep in mind that anyone with web space can point to ilovebees.com and compose email. In order to get a link FROM ilovebees.com, the administrators of the site (and the ARG) need to be involved. Not everything that gets linked to from an in-game site is necessarily in-game (for instance, they could link to Google), but it would be hard to prove a site as being part of the ARG unless it was linked from an "official" already-deemed-in-game site.

For instance, Dana's blog is linked to from ilovebees. If Dana were to, in turn, link to something then there may be a chance that thing were in-game. On the other hand, if I were to put up a Geocities page and link to ilovebees.com, I would be just some random freak that really likes bees or wants to mess with people.

The conclusion in the channel, based on the absurdity of the message, the previous existence of the website, its references in other things, is that it's an attempt by the webmasters to get us to read their stupid socialist crap.

Okay, I admit now that I was a little hasty in posting this as a valid. This i my first ARG and I just wanted to help. I admit this may be some webmaster playing a hoax, but I also think it should not be discarded entirely. I think it should just be set aside, if it becomes important later we still have it here to look at, if not, you can yell at me.

Believe me, when there's a new ingame site, you'll know beyond a shadow of a doubt.

I would think a email referencing hives and bees seems too much like a joke at this point. If it was referring to voodoo then I would consider it.

CAPitALLism.org is updated

Although it's funny, I think it's more invovled than it looks. I mean, this whole I lovebees thing is funny. Humor plays a big part in this game.

Anyway, the webmaster updated the site. You can view a transcript of the events as they occur. What strikes me as interesting is that the webmaster seems to want nothing to do with this? Seems they are holding out for bigger news.

Re: [EMAIL] Capitallism.org

The Webmaster's popup informational message states:

CAPitALLism.org wrote:
I've learned ilovebees is an "Alternate Reality Gaming" environment.

To me, this confirms that it is an out-of-game site, trying to cash in on all the recent hits and inquiries regarding its coincidental use of the phrase "the sting that started all the buzz."

T.I.N.A.G.

Edit: More discussion -- reaching same concensus -- here.

It's speaking our language, and telling us to disconnect, leave it alone, UNrelated. Out of game. But funny.

Thanks and welcome!

We appreciate any new information and the hard work of forum members. But we also try to keep things organized and efficient so we don't keep reinventing the wheel.

Search

Found (all of it), analyzed, solved:

CAPitALLism.org HACKED?? Wednesday July 28th 10:45 PM Tokyo

UPDATE TO THE SITE as of July 28th 10:45 PM tokyo (9:45 AM July 28th Eastern)

This is too strange. I can't make heads or tails. CAPitALLism is still an ambigious site. My personal suspicion is that it will play a role late in the game, joining up near ground zero..

The site is supposedly hacked by "The Window Washers?" Anyone have any clues to that? Is the Window Washer actually the Widow Washer?

What I like is that CAPitALLism calls attention to the game, like a meta-game. I think this is virgin territory for ARG people.
