[SNAIL] Physical Letter sent to Dana

Alright, since Dana seems to have cut off any electronic contact, I just snail mailed her a letter. Nothing big, just voicing concern. I'll post the contents of the letter in a few days, dependant on whether or not I get a reply. I hadn't seen anyone actually say they were going to try this avenue, so I thought I'd give it a shot.

That's actually not a bad idea.
Which address did you sent it to though?

That's the one. I sent it to Dana C/O Margaret's House of Bees. It went out in last night's mail, so she should be getting it Saturday or Monday. It's slow, but it might be effective.

I hate to use a cliche, but way to think outside of the box! Even if it doesn't get us anything, good job! Very Happy

Good idea, except, if Dana's already left for China (as seems to be the case), will anyone check the mail?

I'm hoping for one of two things.

1) Margaret open it and sends a reply and maybe a forewarding address.

2) Dana's already got a forward on the box and it'll go to her directly.

Suffice it to say, any response I get (if any) will be posted, and I'll scan in the actual letter and envelope.

Return Receipt

Okay, I'm a complete n00b and I've been following this thing since last Friday, just reading up on everything and I'm quite amazed at how fast a majority of the puzzles were solved.

Anywayz, I was wondering if you added a return receipt (or what is it you get at the post office) so that you'll know that someone actually received the letter or just standard first class mail.

The return receipt would let you know that someone is at the other end actually getting the letter.

Just an idea to add to the snail mail anyways.

You could certainly try that, but if you did a certified letter, they could simply refuse to accept delivery.

I sent a letter to Dana about a week and a half ago (sorry I didn't post it, I've been too busy). Anyhow, it was just a little card telling her that we are here to support her and not to get too stressed and that we were thinking of her and Aunt Margaret. I've been off work all week, and my PO BOX is near my work, so I haven't been able to check it yet...hopefully will do on Monday.

UPS stores have mailboxes in them, much like PO Boxes. It happened when UPS bought out Mailboxes Etc.

Well, it's Tuesday, and I still haven't gotten any response to my snail mail. Didn't expect any yet anyway, but I'll let you know what I sent to her.

Dear Dana,

Hey, I know you're wigged out by what happened. I would be too if my Mac more or less said "Gotcha!" And I can understand why you're cutting off all electronic contact.

However, I figure The Operator/Melissa doesn't have access to your mailbox as of yet, so this might be the perfect way to contact you without it overhearing. (As for why I'm calling the thing on your computer The Operator/Melissa, it's a long story. Suffice it to say, we've come up with some answers, even though you asked us to stop trying. If you want what we've figured out so far, I'd be glad to send you another letter.)

Please let me know if you're safe for now. I know you just don't want to be known and to disappear, and this thing happening to your aunt's website threw you into the internet spotlight. But you have many friends right now who care about you and your safety.

Do you need anyone to check in on your mom or your aunt? Do you have any messages you want passed on? Is there a way you do feel comfortable communicating?

Again, this is out of concern for you.

Always.

I also signed my name, address, and my email account so she'd have a way of getting back to me.

I figure if she nibbles, I can then respond with the Sleeping Princess' concern for her and what we've figured out this far.

Here's hoping,
Bellebet
