[INFO] Melissa mean "bee"

I did a quick search and nobody seems to have mentioned this yet (though I probably could have searched harder).

The name Melissa is derived from the greek work for "bee."

So that this isn't a totally useless thread:

Melissa was also the name applied to priestess of Artemis, the goddess of (among other things) the hunt. That seems to tie in greatly with Melissa's apparant functions, infiltrating systems, searching and destroying. Further, if we assume that the Melissa AI stems from the Halo universe, this sort of connection makes a lot of sense as Haloverse AI associate themselves with legendary or historical figures (for instance, one believed itself to be the Duke of Wellington).

It is also, of course, the name of what was the fastest-spreading computer virus at the time (1999). Now wouldn't that be an awfully funny name for a medium with a "STRONG INTRUSIVE INCLINATION"? Mr. Green

( Trout -ing myself, because I know someone mentioned this somewhere already. Ah, yes, here it is.)

Just one quick other think about Melissa.

There is a plant called Melissa officinalis which attracts bees. Also it was thought to "'causes the mind and hearth to become merry and reviveth the heart".
