[QUESTION/SPEC] the Queen's kingdom?

I have done a search on the Haunted Apiary to find the question I am about to ask (though, I am not sure how thorough it was, since someone SHOULD have already asked it). If the Operator's the Queen, what is her kingdom, exactly? What should normally be in her domain of control?
What I think is her kingdom is everything that she was before being reduced to her current state. Essentially, I believe the Operator, as we have come to know her, is the core 'consciousness' of Mellisa.

Anyways, I know that this is just too obvious to have been missed, but since I couldn't find it, I thought it couldn't hurt to throw it out onto the forum.

You're looking a bit far into it, methinks. The story of the Widow, the Flea, and the Queen (that's a sort of pun) is merely a metaphor for the actions of what we're witnessing. Melissa hasn't referred to herself yet as the Queen during any part of her speech.

Is great that you have an open mind about this.. but i think that in this case, is clear that the actions described here are just metaphors of the "reality" we are witnessing in the website.

I took the "kingdom in ruins" to mean that the AI's original network is trashed; all the references to blocks left behind were tied in (in the Wiki) to leftover parts of the original operating system or leftover files after the "physical impact".

The stitching together from parts of her followers is probably SPDR grabbing these leftover chunks of OS and files and putting them back together... not necessarily in the same order that they were when the original network was intact (hence the weird surgical imagery in the earlier embedded messages) but in an order that will allow Melissa/the Operator to function.

I have this nagging feeling that I should be crediting this forum too...

-- Steve would like to congratulate xnbomb on that Wiki article.

Well, not all of them. I don't think we have a good explanation for the "chip of precious ruby from the Queen's crown, no bigger than a fly," or the "chip of precious stone, this time a sapphire no bigger than a winged ant." This thread had some discussion about them, and other SPECs were posted here and here, but I don't believe we've solved this one yet.

I've just posted a theory here. To summarise, I'm guessing that the gems are read/write code for optical storage. Any feedback welcome at this stage, even "j00 dumm!"

-- Steve's exaggerating, but only a little.

I posted a theory, hanging on the astronomical idea, http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=5038&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=15 here.

I dunno if that means anything MORE useful.

Maybe at some point we'll be led back to the ruby chip, if it is indeed just another location, and the sapphire is ILB?
