Here's her page for those who are lazy:

Googling that name reveals loads and loads of hits. I think this is a real person, and not game related.

Yeah, it's out. And innersource.com too. Take a look at this
Guess it's just a dead end then... Shall we go back to ri.com or just abandon it?

I suggest we abandon it. I can't assume that a website from the mid-nineties is involved. It's an amazing coincidence, but after researching it a bit more, I think we need to just write it off as that: a coincidence.

Let's just keep on playing...
Sorry but the 'Awry' -> 'RI' hint, IMO, was a little stretched, so if this site is in-game (which much propably isn't) a clearer hint will show up. I think.

You know I think the PMs should give us more to do in between updates before we end up bugging all the wrong people. It's all dead ends here... Their modus operandi is to create only new sites and people, not make use of old sites or existing people.

Oh well.... I any case I think we should reserve 100% discounting of this development until Strider 's email is replied.

I just sent the following email to the ri.com address (predSPLAT RI.COM):
Hi,
I was interested in finding some information on your company - Rom Industries Corp. I found your wesite (www.ri.com), but all the links on the page don't seem to be working. Is this website still active for RI Corp?
P.S. Your Company logo on this site is interesting. Does it have any meaning / depict anything?
In the meanitme, I'm running at 99.995%.

www.ri.com Yep, violentvixen's Internet Archive clinched it as a non-game website for me. The text and logo have been the same since '96.
However (and here's where it gets interesting)... It's possible that Bungie could have accidentally stumbled onto this site whilst doing searches on game-related clues - and then weaved it into the story? Or (in-game), it's possible that the Sleeping Princess found the (existing) site, and is using it as a clue. I think it's reasonable to assume that the "little awry" message originated from the Sleeping Princess (as the green text would suggest). Much of the SP's communication has made use of references to existing text - so referencing an existing site wouldn't be out of character. Personally though, I don't think she would have said "looking at your site" if she was refering to ri.com - so I think the "little awry" comment refers to something else.
but before we totally write it off... if Bungie has been watching these forums (as one would expect they would), they will now be well aware of this site/coincidence. So it's feasible that it could be worked into future clues/puzzles (a self-fulfilling prophecy, if you like).
No email response yet.

The PMs never did make use of existing sites in the Beast, except for the groups of links as done on the link page to reconstruct a message. Frankly, if they made any more use of existing content on existing sites would be asking for trouble, causing 7000+ cloudmakers to descend on some poor unsuspecting webmaster's email.

Very true. On the other hand, The Beast was set in the year 2142, which would have made it very difficult to use existing sites from the year 2001. Theoretically, at least, it is possible that the PMs here could use existing sites -- as, in a way, they already used blogger.com. Still, I am inclined to agree with you that they probably won't.

So Dana is the "innocent bystander," and the entire purpose of the Sleeping Princess putting that green quote up on the picture that the Operator took was to lead us to the 404 pages, where there were more pictures, all of which included messages from the Princess! I like this theory!

Makes Sense to me. I'm suprised we hadn't thought of this before. Good Job!

so the green text on that page "pointed" to the 404 pages....based on that theory, might the varrao mites quote

(o and a switched, ohh ay?) perhaps, something from the meaning of the word details how to dissect some other clue or part of the website....i'm a little fuzzy on how it could though....hmmm
