[UNSOLVED] The Recipes Ok, I've been wracking my brain and I can't make sense of this... But somebody found the original recipes from which margarett's were made, and margarett's recipes all have subtle differences. There's definitely a meaning behind this.
Here's the link: http://bees.netninja.com/wiki/index.php?title=Recipes
There's a ton of changes (even some the person who catologued them missed) but there's even more similarities, most of each recipe was copied word for word from these that have been found... My questions: What do the changes mean? Is there some way we can assemble them into some sort of code? (And still) Why isn't the 3rd recipe linked to?
Common guys let's talk it out, it'll help us (or at least me) think.

I'm not a genius when it comes to rights...but would it be copyrighting if they used the exact text?

I don't know if this means much, but it's been pointed out in the "ladybee777 email" thread that 'turtle' refers to a combination of chocolate, caramel, and pecan, and that Aunt Margaret's recipe for Bee-licious Chocolate Chip Cookies approaches that combination. What's further interesting about that is that one of the few differences between the ILB version of the recipe and the original version is that pecans have been substituted for peanuts. That's as far down this path as I've gotten, though.

I'v been trying to figure out the whole recipe thing too.
Most interesting is that most subtle changes are simple things...like numbers or one ingredient
anagrams(sic?)
Maybe the number changes could be added and divided by 7 or 3 or something.
Just throwing my .02 cents.

i) If I'm not mistaken, the third recipe page wasn't linked from Dana's local copy of the website, either, as screencaptured on her blog. So the missing third page has nothing to do with the website infection. You could speculate that Dana left it out deliberately, but I can't see a plausible reason why she'd do that.
ii) It's not unusual for recipes to vary like this. Cookery's worked that way for hundreds of years; people steal a recipe from someone else, make slight changes based on their likes/dislikes, and then pass it on again. The internet's just made that easier and faster, because now all you have to do is cut/paste/amend, which is exactly what this looks like.

The original page Dana added to the Blog does not have Recipe 3:

Dana commented on it in an email exchange:

I think it's a red herring, her reply basically says to concentrate on the Hotmail.

OFF TOPIC WARNING:
Tehrod, just so you know, .02 cents is two hundreths of one cent. So, it's just 2 cents, or your $.02... Just FYI. (Sorry, not trying to be a pain or mean, just that kind of thing bugs me.)

Yea the screenshot of the links page on Dana's blog was the first place I looked.
The only explanation I can come up with (other than that the 3rd recipe holds some kind of clue) is that the PM's left it out intentionally so there would be 7 recipes on the page, instead of 8...
The more I think about it the more I'm leaning towards this being a copyright work-around... Still, some of the changes seem too subtle. It's bugging me, it really is.

It is quite possible that we don't know what recipies they came from. And some of the changes seem to be just a matter of preference, afterall, pecans are obviously the ambrosia of the gods and godesses compared to peanuts
Now, at the time of the e-mail explaining why recipy 3 is left out (Danas a vegitarian basicaly, passive-agressive stuff.) there may of not been anything there, but it is quite possible that at some point something may be hiden there.

I've been thinking about this. Maybe because the 3rd recipe is not linked to (from the site), the AIs and/or automated processes can't find it. It could be untouched and provide clues to the others: be the key to the other linked recipes.
I.E. it was left off by mistake by Dana, but on purpose by the PMs.
And on a side note, I totally agree with Dorkmaster, the 2/100 of a cent thing has been bugging me too!

Maybe the third chapter (which is the secret i think) is hidden in there, or the third recipe has clues for how to find the secret.

Robke, I've been thinking about the reasons it is unlinked too. The only helpful thing I can come up with is that maybe there are some words on there that we need to send the Sleeping Princess for her to use in a reply. The only thing is, I'm sure someone has already done that.

Has anyone tried overlaying or interleaving the text from "The History of Dana" with the corresponding recipes? I may try if I have time.
I also had a kind of off-the-wall idea that I'd like to try... change all the text in the recipes to binary or hexadecimal ASCII, then translate it back to readable text vertically rather than horizontally. I don't even know what made me think of this, but I may try it. Yeah, I'm nuts. I think this thing is driving me insane.

Recipe THREE is missing from eight recipes, leaving SEVEN .
Bungie's favorite numbers. Coincidence?
(Building on Freelanc'e speculation above.)

Crazy speculation, but aren't they all at this point.
I was looking at the recipe changes, and the directions, and I was thinking maybe the recipes are a coded mathematical formula. In this scheme if it says "3/4 cup butter", then everytime the recipe mentions butter, we substitue 3/4. The rest of the recipe is the formula, so adding ingredient A to ingredient B means adding there associated numbers. This seems to me the most likely reason for most of the changes being changes to the amounts of ingredients. The huge unanswered here is what "mix" and "bake", etc. represent in mathematical terms.
