Hi Everyone,

Pleased to meet you all, how do you do?

I found Perplex City on Firebox.com yesterday, looked it up, got fascinated, and decided I'd like to try playing Season 2. It's all a bit confusing right now and the main questions on my mind are:

* Is it going to be a big disadvantage that I didn't play season 1 and don't know the characters/backstory?
* Can anyone recommend an easy way to keep track of which cards have been solved and what the solutions are, or do I have to keep on top of every thread?! Websites all still seem to be about season 1.
* If there's no treasure hunt in season 2, what is the actual aim in this game? Is there a winner's prize? Do we know anything about this yet?
* Do UK players ever have real-life get-togethers to talk about the game? I live in Sussex, can get to London or Brighton.

If any old hands care to get in touch, please PM me, I'd love to have someone hold my hand for a bit just until I know which way is up!

Lovely MC folks have stated that they want to make sure that Season 2 is more accessible than Season 1 and that while they aren't going to throw away the backstory, they aren't going to rely on it. Plus, there's the amazing wiki which contains more information than you can ever possibly want to know.

We did used to have solved/unsolved tags in card titles but, erm, we don't any more - they didn't really work out last season. If you want to know which cards haven't been solved by anyone at all then there are some people keeping track in this thread, but most of the threads here don't have confirmed solves in them. Yet.

Whilst we still know very little about what's going to happen in Season 2, from what's been said it doesn't look like there will be one single prize or one single aim. The word episodic has been bandied around a bit. Bring on April, when www.perplexcitystories.com goes live!

There are occasionally meetups, yes. Such as this one. Keep an eye on the Meta Forum or, better still, organise one yourself!

Many good questions there and, as the old adage goes, if anyone else has a question then they should ask it because chances are that everyone else is wondering too. Ask 'em here, ask 'em there, but don't ask them anywhere else they'll get moved and we all get confused thinking "where's that thread gone?" Very Happy. And, if you like, PM.

Thank you SO much! I think that's the most helpful and informative answer I've ever had in a forum Smile It really cleared things up for me and I suspect you're right and lots of other newbies will be wandering this way and wondering the same things.

Thanks again for a warm welcome Very Happy

Thanks for the thought myf and just so you don't feel bad, here's a question for you Wink

What is the point of points? I notice that this season you can play puzzles for points as well as solve cards, but do those points get you anything other than respect from your fellow players?

Erk.............you saved the tricky question for me! I don't know. Last season, there were leitmarks when certain points levels were reached, but I believe the existence of them for S2 was "unconfirmed" after one of the webchats. Maybe there will be goodies when thresholds are reached. Although I think the main reason is for people to compete against each other (especially their friends, if they have any playing too).
'Tis a good question, it's just a shame I have no real idea what the answer is Laughing

(Oh BTW, you get Brownies points from me for not putting a capital M at the start of my name!)

You looked so capable...

I guess I'll have to be patient and see what happens in April. In the meantime I'm going to keep playing puzzles just in case.

As for getting your name right, I try not to upset the nice guys on forums at least in my first few hours Wink

You mean I don't get time off for good behaviour? I'll stop being so amazingly, wonderfully helpful (and prompt) then. Wink

Pineapples should be yellow. It's just WRONG when they're not. GM crops and all that.

PXC players say 'no' to blue pineapples.

Ah, but I am not blue, I am happy because someone was nice to me. See: Very Happy . But, just for you, I will attempt to be more yellow in the future. Goes well with purple, so I'm told.

Urm, it's been almost a page since someone new turned up... Anyone fancy actually introducing themselves? Smile
