Hello, I stumbled upon this site trying to figure out some crap with The Zombie Game.

ARG's have always interested me. I am an avid conventional PC gamer, but always looking for more innovation. I look forward to sinking into this community Smile

Hey hey hey,

Well I started off here on a bit of the wrong foot with my first post but I hope to rectify that from here on out. I am totally new to ARG's and got sucked in by the Lost game. I had no idea stuff like this was going on all over the place. I think my productivity at work is going to be seriously compromised Laughing

Anyway, yeah I think thats it. I cant wait to dig into some of these new games I've discovered here. Thanks!

Welcome Skitzzo. Don't worry, nobody reads the rules until they've broken one! Smile

I've been here for little while now, but I guess I overlooked this thread! I hope its not too late to introduce myself anyways.

I'm fairly new to ARGs myself and my biggest problem that I'm hoping to work on is being more observant with puzzles. I'm following the lost experience mostly right now, but pretty excited for whenever the ocular effect decides to take off (if it ever does..)

but anyways, hello to you all and heres hoping I can contribute! Smile

Hiya. I'm Jerry, although I enjoy nicknames so feel free to come up with whatever nicknames you like for me. A cookie if someone recognizes where my username came from. >.> I love games of almost all types, the game industry in general, movies and TV, writing...well, generally if it's a creative outlet, I enjoy it. I discovered ARGs through the IMD entry on Unholy, although it seems I was a bit late for that. Technically I was almost a player of Majestic back in the day, but there were two obstacles: I was 11 and dad wouldn't let me use his credit card number. From what I hear I didn't miss a whole lot.

I'm not exactly great at the technical side of things, so I don't know how much help I'll be at messing with images, sounds, etc. I'm usually always on AIM or lurking on various sites, though, so I have a lot of time for character interaction. The various codes and cyphers are not quite new to me, though I never did any huge research into them, so I'll be okay in that department. Honestly, these ARG things look like fun and I can't wait to get involved.

Welcome aboard Esteed. Our strength comes from our numbers and all the contributions, however small, add up. Smile

Surprised We have an introductions thread!?!?!

Well, I'm hardly new, but I may as well introduce myself...

I joined the ARG world in september 2005 (holy crap. almost a year ago...) by my discovery of Triskabiblios on LazyLaces, naturally, I came over to UF (but since Triskabiblios got locked here, I've moved to IU to play. Very Happy I hold no grudges) during my Triska-experience, I got sucked in by Last Call Poker, while I didn't post in the forum much, I enjoyed it so much (too bad I could never make a live event). I've been following some trailheads and whatnot ever since (I always seem to put my money on the wrong horses, though, considering that they rarely succed in...well...succeding). I have a prefrence to Indie ARGs (as long as the PM has their stuff together and acctually finishes it). I also started my own little (sub) ARG forum here

A little about me:

I hail from the island of Cape Breton, Nova Scotia (...Canada Rolling Eyes ) which limits my ability to participate in many live events. I was born in September of '91 ("*gasp* he's only 14!") and I have a passion for music, mostly classic rock and indie stuff.

No doubt I'll see you around Wink

Hey, audioslave, do you know Natalie McMaster or Hanneke Cassel? Not that everyone from Cape Breton knows each other, but they're both pretty well known fiddle players. Not exactly classic rock, but pretty cool either way --

No, acctually, everyone from Cape Breton does know each other Razz

Well, I know Natalie McMaster (everybody from here does). I met her once or twice. As far as Hanneke Cassel goes: I have no clue. I'm not really into the celtic music...

Cool

I know some celtic music (the basics. Y'know, what's been programmed into all of our brains), I just don't have an "extensive knowledge"

*stands up real fast* Howdy all *sits down, is relieved*.

I'm a grad student (18th-century British humanities things -- I can help with those Baconian Horrid Deformed Cows somebody posted downthread in the Meta section!) Found this partially through my university's thinktanky group on new media and partly through what I think I referred to in another post as "Ye Horror LG15".

Really, though, this is exciting to me because as a youngun' I dug those graphic-adventure roleplaying games -- first the "go EAST, use PIPE on CHEESE" texty DOS ones (did anyone else play an awesomely bad DOS-based shareware murder mystery game called "Sleuth"?) Then, later, all that point 'n click adventure stuff LucasArts and everyone else put out -- Day of the Tentacle, Indiana Jones, whatever. Then sweet, sweet Myst! Then ... everyone (only mostly, but still) stopped doing that and just made shooters and/or "Cause Your Dark Avatar to Wield the Talisman of Opalescent Wrathfulness".

So, yeah. ARGs, besides being fascinating on a psychological/sociocultural/academical-nerdical level, seemed like a massive, unimaginably cool version of the interactive problem-solving dynamic that really grabbed me as a wee bairn.

Hey everyone!! Im Sammi.

I have no idea what Im doing here or why. But I was somehow brought here by someone IMing me which led me here... then I was told this is a game.

Ive heard of an ARG before, but never been in one... nor really knew what it was about. I play ORGs which are games like Big Brother and Survivor. They are LOTS of fun.

So... here I am. Gonna check out one of these games. I was the one that posted the 'Weird IM...' post in News and Rumors. And if you read that you understand Im clueless when it comes to whats going on Razz

This is gonna be an interesting start for me so be kind... lol

I guess I already introduced myself in the news section, I can't believe this thread slipped by my attention Embarassed

I can relate! It's a bit nervewracking jumping into such a crowded pool.

So here goes, Hi! EarlyWyrm (nic comes from an album by a guy named Genesis P-Orridge) I'm a "video production guy" from Chicago (transplanted to Texas a while back).

I only heard about ARG's and Unfiction about a week ago following a digg article - actually the trail that lead to unfiction and argn.com was a bit of a rabbit hole in itself filled with odd coincidences...

Surprisingly I'm heavily into web design, flash, streaming video, film production, online gaming, and all elements that seemingly make up this genre. I'm bewildered at not having heard of "I Love Bees" as I'm a halo fan, or any of the other "games" that have existed over the years, and especially the term "alternate reality gaming".

And cloudmakers! I'm a huge Kubrick fan (although AI was far from his best) and "the beast" and cloudmakers skipped right past my attention!

After wandering through these forums for a week I feel as though an odd kind of blindfold has been lifted. I'm finally connecting the dots with a lot of curiosities I've noticed over the past few years; viral marketing, interactive flash sites with "puzzles" (which I thought were just spam), bizarre videos on the common distro sites (which I figured were just bad amateur indie film).

So then, thanks to "catherwood-offline" for pointing out this thread, now I officially have gone through the obligatory "introduce yourself" step. See you guys ingame - as soon as I find one!
