Free iPods–is this legit?

Hi! I found this site from the whole ilovebees thing, and have just been lurking until now. A friend of mine told me about this site that seems to promise a free iPod in exchange for referrals:

http://www.freeiPods.com/default.aspx?referer=7488973

I was just wondering (a) if this was for real (b) if so, if anyone wanted to help me get my 5 referrals. Smile I was able to do the eBay offer without using any credit card and for free, a process detailed at www.freeipodguide.com. Thanks! Smile

Yeah, people have been getting their free iPods from this place. There's another one for flatscreen TVs. If anyone wants to boost my referrals, the links are on my blog. http://www.addlepated.net

I am of the theory that websites that give away such freebies in exchange for them knowing who your friends are or people oyu contact are trolling for marketiung information. Tis a privacy issue with me, so I will stick with my ol Diamond Rio with the battery holder mot melt glued on the side, thankyouverymuch....

You're absolutely right - this is a pyramid scheme, and some people aren't gonna get their referrals, and everyone is gonna get spammed.

Which is why I signed up for everything with a throw-away email address. Once this is over with, I'll just delete the username and not worry about the spam. Very Happy

That works! Smile Gotta beat the idiots at their own game in what is referred yto as Cultural Jamming. Look that boit of fun up; I get a major kick o of it. The latest thjing I heard about in that realm is guerills drive in theatres; mounting a video or film projector and sound system on a car or truck, and showing movies at secret locations around a city. Was howling with laughter last night abnout this site that organizes such things. their schedule includes shjowing The Evil Dead in a cemetery, Repo Man in a junkyard and Fast Times at Ridgemont High at a high school.

This isn't "guerillas" but a local movie theater called The Alamo Drafthouse here in town does the same thing. Last year they had the Freddy vs. Jason premiere at an abandoned summer camp and the actors who played the lead characters were in attendance. Coming up is the Open Water premiere at the lake (ticket includes tube rental, screening, and shark stew dinner), the Ultimate Chainsaw Experience at the home where the Texas Chainsaw Massacre was filmed ("WITH TOBE HOOPER, GUNNAR HANSEN, ALLAN DANZIGER and ED NEAL IN PERSON!"), and the Deathrace 2000 road rally.

Around here, people trade Safeway cards & Giant cards like a CCG game, complete with requisite pseudonyms, of course.

"Thank you for shopping at Safeway, um, Ms. Jameson?"
"Sorry. Must be my girlfriend's card. Here you go."
"Thank you, Mr. Jeremy."

Use it a couple of times, and then hand it off to someone else at a happy hour.

They will spam you. And there is AFAICS no way to get out of it.
