[SPEC/RANT] Getting The Bigger Picture

For some reason, even though I am not active within the spec for this game, am a tad irked by the lack of progress. Lots of good minds puzzling through this, but no progress.

My own rant and theory is that all the stories being discussed, all the characters are NOT an integral part of the future storyline. I think we can take Dana as the jumping off point for this all, but all the endless discussions on the pious flea, the queen, the widow have NOTHING to do with the ARG at hand.

My own theory is that they are merely CLUES to solve this puzzle monster. Take for example, during the anniversary game was a clue using a bunch of unrelated websites, the only commonality with them was the clues they all pointed to together.

http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=4493&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=135

Maybe all the storyline work is for mere commonality rather than being the actual story itself?

Out of curiosity, what is your theory on the whole game so far?

No theories that I consider solid. I am reminded by the embedded programming of this book I mention here and there called The Adolescence of P-1 about a computer virus that attains sentience. Especially the classic book quotes which may stand in as a memory dump when reader publisher's computer networks.

Hah.
Progression based upon what? Greater speculation.
It has progressed as far as possible with what has been handed to us. All of the speculation just seems to grow wilder and has no basis upon evidence.
If there's anything to be irked about, it's the time between puzzles (the same puzzles that have, so far, advanced the story.)

Why not? might even be right. (means a yes vote) As the quote from Shadowland goes: "we are at the foot of the great story tree where stories can go anywhere...and beyond" (and I may have mangled the quote apology there, but you get the idea Smile

Yes. But intrigue is no substitute for relevance. You'd do well not to burn yourself or others out trying to spec this to death.

Okay, I got one yes vote. That is all it took. Here it goes. This may be stupid. lol

First off Mellissa is a copy of Cortana's AI. I know people are gonna complain about that but whatever. There is no proof that she is not. When Halo blew it sent this copy of Cortana(that Cortana made inside of Halo's systems) to our time somehow. That explains that. Kinda, well, not really but whatever

My main theory is here. The sleeping princess is....
The Forerunners.

Is it possible, since this AI is in our time, that the Forerunners are just AI's that somehow got sent into the future.

This helps me understand a lot of things. But, tell me what you think. Why or why not could this be true? It is deffinetly part of the bigger picture.
Shocked Silly

My speculation is simply for conversation and enjoyment of the game.

And there's also no proof that Cortana isn't Satan incarnate and the masterchief is actually a transexual from the future. Who shoots lasers from his eyes.

Maybe if you had said they were sent into the past that would halfway make sense. The term forerunners sort of implies they came before. And if I'm not mistaken aren't AI's such as Cortana created based upon current human life? They even have a limited amount of time to live.

We need to create a big bin to toss all of these shots in the dark.

I would say there's a lot of information pointing to the Forerunner not being AI. Because then they would have fairly little to worry about in terms of the Flood taking them over. The Flood fed on sentient life, if you recall, and that's why Halo was designed to wipe all sentient life on the galaxy. Besides, Covenant are running around taking all the Forerunner technology, and the main problem is, how would AI come into existence and build things? They'd have to be made by someone first. Maybe the Forerunner have AI, but I doubt they are AI.

My current thought, just in terms of Halo speculation based on the Halo story page, is that Humans are the ancestors of Forerunners or somesuch, which explains a lot. Don't want to get into it here though, as I don't see how it relates.

Can anyone tell me what exactly IS known about the forerunners? (No spec, facts)

I don't recall much from the game as it's been awhile since I completed it. And I never got into the Halo novelization. Seemed about as appealing as a book based upon Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Wink You never expect those things to have decent story lines.
