[SPEC] Focusing the spec

Hello everyone - I've been pretty active on the Wiki, but I'm just now getting into the forums.

I've spent some time thinking about the central mysteries in this ARG, and I've put together a Wiki entry about them (entitled, appropriately, Mysteries).

The somewhat vague definition of "mystery" for my purposes are big, plot-impacting questions that a player would want to know the answer to before feeling like they understand the whole story and the game is "done".

In other words, I am trying to come up with a definitive [SPEC] "forest", since a lot of the [SPEC] right now is at the "tree" level. Granted, some of those trees are really fascinating, creative, and well-thought out (e.g. the Sylvia Plath connection), but a lot of them aren't (e.g. Dana is the Master Chief!)... and in neither case are we getting any closer to knowing the full story.

Here's my initial stab at a list of the core mysteries:

1) What will happen when the countdown on ilovebees.com reaches the "metastasize" and "wide awake and physical" checkpoints?
2) How did The Operator come to reside on the ilovebees.com server?
3) Who told the story of The Widow's Journey and hid it among the corrupted images on ilovebees.com?
4) What are the real world, literal names of The Pious Flea and The Sleeping Princess?
5) Assuming they come from the same author, who wrote "problem quite interesting" / "I was looking at your site a little awry" / the killer.jpg embedded text / the ladybee777 e-mails?
6) Where is Dana Awbrey?
7) Which characters should the players try to help, and which should the players try to stop?

I've posted a little bit of explanation re:why I think these questions are important/count as central mysteries in the Wiki entry linked above, so I won't repeat myself here. Any other suggestions re:other important mysteries are welcome, and links to really solid, credible [SPEC] about the solution to these mysteries would be appreciated as well.

EDIT: Topic. --AnthraX101

Good on you, Extrasonic. I think it's really important that everyone reads this too, since we need to focus on the "in-game" secrets yet to be revealed. While we have some wild spec goin on, most of it is based on people's guts, not based on textual evidence, and this type of real mystery (in extra's definition) is the kind of thing we SHOULD stay focused on. Wild Spec is not bad, but we need to focus more on the stuff we got clues for, or we have solid leads on... I hate to bring up the old term, but it's really true: Let's try to bring the Signal to Noise Ratio way up, (more signal for those math-impaired)...

Your number 6 has been answered by Dana herself:

#7: To Help or Stop

Hi Extrasonic! The Mysteries page was a great idea, good job on that.

I suspect that #7 (to help or stop?) may not be very cut and dried. For example, the Operator is clearly smart but right now seems on a mission to do Dana harm. Having the players re-educate the Operator to make her realise she's on the wrong track rather than stopping her/destroying her may potentially be the right way to go. Could be tricky or impossible, though, as we don't have any way to communicate with her at the moment.

Then again, maybe her ethics routines got erased as part of all the damage she took and she's enough of a menace that she needs to get permanently shut down.

We shall see. She's hunting right now - for Dana's sake let's hope her hunt doesn't go that well...
