if it's spread, it did so across the internet. not sure why it gave us these coordinates, but i doubt they're physical. go to them if you want... but i would be surprised if you found anything.

Muahahahaha, famous last words. Maybe.

Although, it's true that we don't have much more to go on than these numbers.

yeah, i'm just bitter cause i'm in Iowa and I don't think I'll have any near me. Dunno

In Iowa

Yeah, I'm also in Iowa, not much around here.

Off topic, but where at in Iowa are you? I'm in Marion, suburb of Cedar Rapids.

Hmmm..

What if we went with the theory that San Fran was the nerve center, Should we draw lines from SF to the various points?

And, What if what we're looking for are WIFI points? Phones? ATMS? The coordinates don't seem to be random, as in, everything so far seems to be a shopping area.

Bellebet, trying to make sense of all this without a GPS system.

Figured out those points

I inported all the points into MapPoint 2004, it seems that 95-99% of the points fall within a block of a Chinese Food, Korean Food, or Seafood resturant or a Chinese themed hotel.

Any thoughts?

Could they be internet kiosks?

Ironman: I'm in Cedar Falls at UNI. I know where Marion is, though. There's plenty of CR folks up here!

[SPEC] What the coordinates mean...

I grabbed some maps off the 'net of the Philly position and I'm almost entirely certain that there's a set of payphone on that *precise* (northwest) corner.

Melissa's new rant includes the fact that she wants a create a voice for herself.

My theory: At 5:07pm EST (I believe that's when the AXON countdown ends) on August the 24th, the phones at the various coordinates will ring, and Melissa will speak.

Like I said, I'll check tonight if there *is* an actual set of phones there, but I literally live around the corner from there and I'm pretty familiar with the area.

Problems: A couple people have pointed out that they don't remember phones at the coordinates near them, and there's one out in the OCEAN, which kind of precludes payphones. Smile

I doubt it's a geocaching thing, though, since you'd get in serious trouble fooling with the area I'm thinking of...

Anyone have supporting data? Or non-supporting data? Smile

Could it be that the Operator is trying to find Dana using her 'processes' and those processes are tracking where Dana could be ? Maybe the Operator cannot yet extend outside the US networks and she is looking at 'China' related stuff, which happens to be restaurants, hotels etc in the US... Just an idea.

If anyone has a map or addresses in the L.A. area, I'll be happy to ditch work and go check some of these out... to verify proximity to pay phones, WAP points, Chinese Restaurants or whatever.

thx

Just a note: if it is a payphone scheme, they can't all ring at the same time when the countdown ends, because the countdown is synched to your computer clock which (presumably) is in your local timezone. So the countdown will end at different times for different people.

Two of the points are in my home town, Madison Wisconsin. I've mapped them out and have identified one of them, I will take a trip down there this afternoon to see if anything is down there.

The northernmost one in the picture below is the downtown branch of the University Bookstore. It's across the street from the main campus library (seen mostly in white in the picture)... I'll go down there later and try to find the exact point on the map.; I'll also find out the other point this afternoon as well.

hello, 1st post lurker coming up to periscope depth, here!

I did not see this one listed yet on this thread (if i missed it sorry i was reading fast in my excitement...)

coordinates : 42.2792 -83.7485

location: downtown Ann Arbor Michigan, on south main st., between liberty and williams streets. its roughly one third of the way btween, heading south from liberty.

it's been a little while since i was down there, but that block is think with art stores, bars, and specialty botiques. i am having trouble converting the lat/long into a mailing address. any tips, or did i just miss that above in my haste?

The one in Chicago near the Sears Tower doesn't make sense with these theories. It's a buisness building, the tallest in the US, and While there are internet connections inside, there's not a WAP (unless there's a starbucks inside), not really a payphone (although I'm willing to bet there's ALWAYS a payphone near ANY urban corner), and as far as chinese restaurants go, I don't get that at all... I think it's tracking us...

Is there any free program or online link that I can spit these co-ords onto and see a visual map of the points?

I'm about 30 or 35 co-ords in, and having to do this manually is getting *extremely* horrible.
