Oh very very nice.

Could it be a cell tower then? It is a way to route a message. And i'm sure if you where able to send a signal out of all these it could reach whoever you planned to contact.

My .02 cents.

-Cheers

Possible theory...looking over the text I believe the "flea" was searching for "the great library"

"saw it once, before the Apocalypse. I wish I could remember more about that, but the stupid Spider appears not to have recognized the supreme importance of all memories associated with the truth, and they are gone, initialized in an eyeblink, burned in the mindless fire of her purgation like the great library of... the great library...

whose name I no longer remember. "

I know this was discussed as a possible category. Maybe search all know libraries at those locations?

I guess some of the museums could be seen as libraries - isn't the National Archive at the Smithsonian? Also, there was at least on location in Alexandria, but not Alexandria, Egypt, where the only Great Library I know of is..

It seems very difficult to find a common thread here, and from preliminary reports by those who are familiar with or have visited the sites, there doesn't seem to be anything in common or out of the ordinary in physical reality - short of waiting for the countdown to finish, it seems we are better off looking for a pattern or relation from a macro level.

I can only agree with you

As for alexandria, has anyone checked the site? Perhaps there's a downed ship there(lol).

I read up to, like, page 14 on this thread and then I couldn't hold it any longer so I'm sorry if any of this is trout. I tried. I really did.

I think the one point in the ocean deserves much more focus than it's getting. It's not unlikely that it's the key. If there is anything these points have in common, than that one will have it too, and there will be very few things to confuse us there. If we've interpreted the coordinates correctly, then there MUST be something there. Someone needs to confirm for sure whether there's an island there. Someone needs to confirm whether there's an oil rig or other structure (like a Chinese restaurant) built there. And someone needs to confirm whether there is an underwater landmark there. This last one seems most likely to me. There are thousands upon thousands of sunken ships in the world's oceans, and there could easily be one there. Perhaps there is some ancient Chinese warship resting on the seabed there...

I might be able to report on the location in Hollywood (that's Hollywood, Florida) by Thursday. I seem to be the only person in South Florida working on this, but that point is still about 45 mins away from me.

Are there ANY points that aren't in a comercial area? I mean, if you assume the Pacific Ocean is a commercial area (see above). Are there any in residential suburbs or something?

another thing to notice is at the other...uh..forum thread there are a lot of libraries/schools listed. But then there are areas that are completly off because they are dead ends, or buisnesses or just random areas of no importance.

Don't know what to think of it, but the library thing seems to be going the right way.

Maybe one of the aliens is looking for The Library on Halo, or could be trying to contact 343 Guilty Spark. Maybe Earth has been mistaked for Halo.

I dunno, just throwing ideas out. I know a lot of you guys don't like specs on Halo, but let's be honest, at least Halo can be considered in-game, even if the books aren't.

What if we isolate all the library landmarks and see what that gives us?

It's worth a shot...But I have no idea how to do that, or how long it'd take.

Sad

The sea point was error. You heard that torpedo detonate against the hull, and I.... was never here.

OK, foreigner, complete ARG noob here who couldn't stand to read the complete thread, but please cut me some slack.

I've been to DC a couple of weeks ago and the point in the center, opposite the smithsonian "Castle" got me thinking: There are several things there: payphones, a subway entrance, and: an ATM.
What I've learned about the placement of ATM's in the US is that they're usually in or near some form of public building like thingy Wink

The smithsonian ATM is rather well hidden inside the building, the other coordinates could be the same.

Another clue as to why it would be ATM's: we're looking for a communication network of some kind. All ATMs are linked by phone to the bank's central computer, (at least, in europe they are Question ) so you've essentially got a completely seperate web here. Why these specific locations?

Beat me with large spikey sticks on the butt if I knew Shocked Laughing

EDIT - language - SG

I don't know if that's what these coordinates are pointing to. And if they are i'll kill myself.

There was a typo in the coordinate as copied to the forums IIRC. The correct one is not in the ocean.
