Actually that quote has already been fit into a larger story about the Sleeping Princess. It's on the wiki under Puzzles.

This is the page Dana postet on her blog:
[url]I think its a clear hint that we are looking for locations in China.

Except that every clump of coords appears to map to a population center in the U.S. That would be incredible coincidence, if these were meant to signify Chinese locations.

Moreover, since the GPS coords don't appear to contain any inherent information (see the coordinate map in the other thread - it doesn't represent any kind of discernible picture), one would conclude that the purpose of the coords has something to do with their locations. We can find out a lot about every point by visiting it, especially since they're all near major population centers. We can't find anything about about China.

Can we kill the China thing now, please?

I'm not quite sure what to think about this whole puzzle.

Before we start thinking anything, let's investigate every one and put it together into a table. There's too much pontificating here, and not enough data gathering.

I know all three of these locations. The second one actually isn't on the university campus so it shouldn't be marked as berkeley uni.

37.8684 -122.2679 is the main branch of the Berkeley Public Library. I think the location is ever so slightly off, but at that intersection the only thing it could be pointing to is the library regardless of whether it nailed the street address exactly.

37.8721 -122.2731 is quite odd. I can't think of anything of note that's at that location, but I have a friend who lives a block away so I'll ask him what's over there.

37.8640 -122.2673 is odd as well, since I used to work on the north corner of that intersection. The spot where the star is on the map is a lot that was vacant a few months ago and is now under costruction. There's a radio shack and a used computer store in that intersection as well as the office complex I used to work in. I believe there are a few lawyers/chriopractors, a daycare, and Sunny Banes, journalist, in that complex.

I wrote this in the main Axon thread, but I'll quote it here too.
Quote:
I think there's something in the categorisation of the different places. Might it be characters encoded in 7-bit ASCII or something? 'Library or other place of learning' for a one, 'empty field' for a zero? Summat like that?

Thoughts? Smile

I went by at lunch and saw nothing out of the ordinary. Of course, I didn't expect to find anything, either. August 24 may be a different story...

Going off of the library theory.. There is a library near these coordinates. I grew up in this town, and spent way too much time there.

http://www.billings.lib.mt.us/ to be exactish...

That's an open field or park, doubt there could be a library or payphone there.

However, it's interesting to note that it's only 2 miles away from the Xbox playtest labs. I know cuz I been dere. Cool

OOT joke, but also information:

If you use flyframe.com and plot the Fort Dodge, IA coordinates: 42.5052 -94.1579 you see a bunch of fields with crop circles!!! (Okay, they are just irrigation lines)
But when you look at it, the food icon is right next to the point that the coords bring up. The Target store is on the south, and Hy-Vee is on the north. Target stores are a more rectangular than square. I've worked at a few.

Off I go to St. Cloud, MN: 45.5533 -94.2096 to see what I can find. Only an hour drive, and I've got nothing to do tonight.

Re: More detail about Cape Cod location

Rock Steady wrote:
The location on Cape Cod is at the corner of Main and Pleasant Streets in Hyannis (Barnstable). It is a building listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and I have an email in to the Hyannis Public Library (just a couple of blocks away...) to find out just what is there. Coincidentally (or not?!) I will be moving to the Cape next week, so I will be in the vicinity on the 24th, should we decide the sites need monitoring on that day.

Dude, cancel your plans, it's crazy down here.

I just went to that general location for a few minutes (it's getting dark and the traffic is a mess). A few things of note:

*Intersection has a transportation center -- train station, bus depot, docks not far away.
*This pretty central to downtown Hyannis.
*Hospital nearby.
*The intersection is more or less the beginning of a long one-way street.
*There's a mini-golf place nearby. THE QUEEN DESIRES MINI-GOLF.
*Internet cafe down the the street. I don't know if it's a wi-fi hotspot.
*Didn't see a cell phone tower (they're hard to come by down here), but I may have missed it. No public phone that I know of, either.

This location's about ten minutes away from me, although I've never made contact with anyone in the game.

40.5775 -105.0573 - Fort Collins

South Lemay and Riverside (Riverside runs NW - SE with the Cache La Poudre River to the north east of the road) At that corner (if memory serves from 6 years ago) ther is an auto mechanic shop on the SW corner Several sets of Railroad traks running between Riverside and the river - in fact I remember sitting in traffic waiting while they strung the cars together sometimes for 10 to 15 minutes at a time. It is the edge of the "Old Town" districtto the west and NW, most of the shops are small boutique/ restaurant/kitch type stores with residences to the SW... SE along Riverside (several hundreds of feet) is the Town Newspaper.

North - NE if memory serves was an empty plot or Hay field.

Whomever suggested Geo cached items, I second (or third or twenty-eth) that as a suggestion.

47.6810 -122.1254 is right smack in the Bella Bottega strip mall in Redmond, WA.

There is a Gamecrazy within a couple hundred ft.

Don't worry Gherritt, Labor Day is coming.

The specified point appears to be the building south of Main and west of Pleasant. It's a Queen Anne (?!) style historic building. Do you remember what is in it? Also, confirm my memories that the Hyannis Public Library is just a few blocks west on Main.

I'm going to try to head down to downtown Seattle tomorrow, all of the Seattle coordinates are located there.
