[SOLVE puzzle spec] main anagram from countdown Rearrange the letters in:
HALT - MODULE CORE HEMORRHAGE
SYSTEM PERIL DISTRIBUTED REFLEX.
STRONG INTRUSIVE INCLINATION.
COUNTDOWN TO WIDE AWAKE AND PHYSICAL :
And you get:
INDEX THIS IRONCLAD PREDICTION : HALO TWO SINGLE PLAYER DEMO CD-ROM DISK INCURSION AT AUGUST TWENTY FOUR. EARTH WILL NEVER BE THE SAME.
taken from a post I found on videogames.com forum at
http://forums.gamespot.com/gamespot/show_messages.php?board=2000201&topic=15350839&page=0
It seems very good, he even used the punctuation, I am not that that good at anagrams enough to know if this is valid but would like to see if anyone can validate this.
edited label to reflect proof below. Proof of what, I'm not sure. Drink more Ovaltine! aliendial

That is pretty interesting... both that it works and that someone figured it out. Here is a letter count for those who are interested (First number is original text count, second number is supposed message):
A = 7/7
B = 1/1
C = 4/4
D = 5/5
E = 12/12
F = 1/1
G = 2/2
H = 4/4
I = 10/10
J = 0/0
K = 1/1
L = 6/6
M = 3/3
N = 8/8
O = 8/8
P = 2/2
Q = 0/0
R = 8/8
S = 6/6
T = 9/9
U = 4/4
V = 1/1
W = 3/3
X = 1/1
Y = 2/2
Z = 0/0
. = 2/2
: = 1/1
- = 1/1
I tripple checked, but it is 2 am, so I welcome anyone else to check me again.

nah, I don't buy it. I hope this doesn't appear as too harsh, but I'd like to try to nip this thread before it goes rampant with half-baked speculation. This anagram appears intriguing at first, but stop to consider some things. Here's a breakdown of the letters in the "original" text (with the # of times they occur):
Code:
A 7
B 1
C 4
D 6
E 12
F 13
G 2
H 4
I 10
K 1
L 6
M 3
N 8
O 8
P 2
R 8
S 6
T 9
U 4
V 1
W 3
X 1
Y 2
So, you have virtually the entire alphabet (23/26 letters) to choose from, with many letters repeated several times. In short, I think you could use these letters to spell whatever you would like them to spell .
Going further, the august 24 date makes no sense... first off it doesn't jibe with the countdown on the ilovebees site (**edit.. okay it jibes, but I still say this is a red herring). I don't think Bungie would dedicate any resources at creating a single player demo for a game that a) they are frantically trying to complete for a november launch and b) is already going to be purchased by millions of people sight-unseen.
To skewer a good movie quote, this is a "Monet" clue -- it looks good from far away, but when you look really close it's a total mess.

August 24th is the day that the countdown (the real one with the days:hours:minutes:seconds:etc) will hit 0... specifically, 6:07 am that day.

dang... okay... my math blows. I still say the anagram is bogus. Well, obviously all the letters are accounted for but I truly think you could make a billion different sentences with the same letters/punctuation.
I suppose we'll know if there's a single player halo demo on that day. Of course, if all this is prelude to a friggin demo disk I'll be royally pissed and dedicate my existence to breeding trained killer bees to attack the creators of this thing.

I completely agree... While I don't like bees personally, I'm sure the anger I'd feel if this is one big "buy halo 2!!!" 2 week prerelease advertisement will help me get over my dislike of bees. Sometimes, there are just greater evils in the world that must be delt with.

like i said in the other thread, there's a 1 in 1.97450686 × 10^182 chance that this is intentional.
this thread should be trouted and locked

INDEX THIS IRONCLAD PREDICTION ??
DISK INCURSION ? yeah right
CD-ROM ??? The Xbox notably uses DVD-roms for it's game discs (it could probably read demo's from a CD-rom, but why bother, and why would they explicitly use it for an anagram either way ?)
Long story short : this is a bogus anagram, despite all the character being accounted for..

why such the downplay? its going to be great when it is true....i remeber one of the first text files on the site saying something about "the answer is staring you right in the face, like a cat" now the pop-up is on the main page staring right at all of us....only time will tell though well see come aug 24th

[SOLVE] Interesting that it works. Not trout. But yes the possibilities are endless.

Plus as of the network throttling being eroded, there is now another piece of writing in caps - PHASE 1 COMPLETE. How does this fit in, if at all. Might finally put that anagram being intentional to rest.

not sure how the new part works in, but this is interesting
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v102/maddya/mag2.jpg
found that on the wiki.
though I dont think a demo through oxm is the final solution...maybee a clue is found in the oxm to solve the puzzle, My theory (which would be cool) I am hoping for a downloadable multiplayer map or single player demo distributed over xbox live.
The descision refered to on the homepage of ilovebees could be some form of puzzle which must be solved through the xbox live dashboard in order to attain the download. The solution for the final puzzle may come from information gathered while playing this game. In my opinion that would be a cool closer to this game. It is possible for this to happen because in the new release of Xbox live Tsunami, Microsoft has stated that some maps and mods for games will be run off of servers and not necessary for a user to do a download to play, this is a new feature they have announced and what a perfect time to launch it.
Just a thought and a wild speculation

Might also be interesting to see if there any insightful anagrams in the new text posted in the update. I'm working on that right now, though I suck at anagrams.
The text reads:
QUARANTINE - FRAGMENTED MEMORY
RESTORATION PHASE: 0

I really hope not, that would severly limit the end-game to those with an xbox and xbox-live. Not a good move for an ARG.

Like the other messages, IMHO they do what they say on the tin. Informationals to the outside world by the Spider(s) on the status of repair.

HALO 2 HAS BEEN CANCELLED: YOU ARE ALL HUGE SUCKERS
out of 100 letters, anything is possible
