Aug 13th email & coordinates puzzle Hmm, definitely some kind of hint here, maybe???
Quote:
I was surprised when the Queen sent her away, but Her Majesty DOES have a temper, and the Widow had been making a lot of mistakes. I was hiding behind the throne during their last argument. For days the Queen has been ordering her to build the most extraordinary number of little roads out from the castle. Turns out she was very particular about where she wanted them to go: more particular than the Widow understood. Widow hears, "Build a road," she just starts shoveling. Hard-working old biddy, the Widow, but not the sharpest pin in the cushion. She kept getting into fights with the Flea, when she could SEE him riding around up there on the Queen's shoulder, proud as a lord. The last time they quarreled, the Queen had just discovered the Widow had built one path mindlessly straight INTO THE SEA. This is what I mean about an Arachnid of Very Little Brain.
Usually I am a pretty good hider, but I made a terrible pig-snorty kind of laugh when I heard about the underwater road, and I think they would have caught me, if the Queen hadn't been busy breaking up the Widow at just that moment.
Anyway, I get the feeling the Queen is very grumpy. She has totally taken over the road-making business; I'm sure the paths will be better now. She's not always a lot of fun, the Queen (and quite mad, of course) but she does get things done.
Should the points all be coming out from the server? I know this has been thought of before. But this is brand new info we're being given.

Did anyone ever do the distances through indo from Dana's San Francisco provided number to each of the GPS Coords?

I guess you might be right. But we know that out of 220, a great deal of them are probably correct. We'll have to watch the links page for the next couple of days.

I'd interpret that actually as we're going to see MORE coordinates pop up, and that the old ones aren't to the right exact place.

krystyn, by yesterday nobody was listening to anyone anymore. It became a free-for-all with everyone's different idea. Praise the PM's for giving us this clarifying info!!

I'm sure this has been done, although the way things are around here, these kinds of things seem to get quickly lost.
However, I would also like to see a similar file that also contains the "Initial heading" information (direction and degrees) from SF using that distance webpage. The Queen has talked about directions before (finding south, "nor nor east"), so that may be more relevant than distance alone (and you don't have to make decisions between km and mi and nautical miles!)

Actually probably not (haven't heard that idea at all) - so you're volunteered!

Ugh don't tell me that after all this - the coordinates don't make any sense because the PMs got a lot of them WRONG...

I've been doing some by hand - someone said they'd whipped up an applet or something to speed things along.. that'd be much faster.

Can you find the location of people by using their email addresses? I'm just speculating, but I've seen that some people have found locations near to where they live and I'm wondering whether the Queen is making these roads based on our locations...

No.
I've seen lots of misconceptions about how the internet, ip's, and email work around here. It would be impossible to determine a physical address from most emails or ip addresses. It's just the way things work. Your IP address is just whichever your ISP happened to hand out at the moment you connected, and changes each time you connect. That IP goes back to the ISP who owns it. THEY could potentially figure out who connected and got a certain IP at a certain time, but that usually requires a court order.
