[spec] Time travel

It's often been wondered why the events of ILB are taking place in OUR time frame. For example the whole puzzle could be run in a different time frame.

I think I *may* know why, spec of course.

Just hit the back end of book three. The Crystal located on Reach warped Slipspace (Halo's method of FTL travel) however it breifly mentioned that it also distoreted time, which was why teh events of Reach and the events of Halo were much closer that then "actual game calendar" showed. Because Halsey and MC were on teh same timeline to find the crystal the crystal affected the timeline so that they would find each other. It's all a bit beyond me, temporal physics is something I've not used for a while, but what I'm thinking is that this other "artifact" that was found by Meliisa (The onse denser than the densest naturally occuring material) was also a crystal, or one with similar properties.

Somehow it's distorted her timeline and dropped her here. How or why I dunno.

Just a thought I had over lunch...

That thread is basically an evolving talk about how the Haloverse timeline might be used to explained pre-ILB events, including Forerunner crystals to explain the time jump.
