[SPEC] Full text compilation

Not sure if this is speculation, but just an FYI, I'm working on a full text compilation of all story elements that have been found to date, and placing them in a side-by-side chronological table for each character... ie, from future history's memory fragments (shipboard/military memories) to "today's" events... wherever parallels can be drawn, or events from different monologues happen simultaneously, they're laid out that way... for example, we have comparisons of the sleeping princess's dreams with the SPDR's commands... this is taking it one step further... I had a thought that the original operator monologue, the Mayday Text, was occurring through the same time stretch as the spider restoring the queen (and thus the first princess dream), and thought, what if everything is happening chronologically at the same time... I mean, the SPDR and Flea would be working on their own agenda, so who's to say one of their story elements doesn't take place during any of the other entities' monologues?

So in an effort to 'novel'ize the ARG, I'm putting the entire text in the most accepted (from what I've read) order of events... so you could in the end read from the top to the bottom (across columns) and read a novel Smile

Hey, maybe in the end the PM's could publish it if it's long enough Very Happy hehe

So as pieces come in, they'll obviously fit into the story at points, or expand it from the beginning or end... it really is intriguing to see each entity's individual timelines as they relate to each other...

it may also help visualize the plot/storyline and further some mystery solving... it's a big work though, so I'd estimate it be ready tomorrow at the earliest... I'll keep you posted. (and it's in word document format - the easiest file type to work with multiple columns at a decent speed, so it's virtually unprintable with miniscule text Razz)

[Edit] - documents are now available for download - will post notes when re-uploading and updates are made...
[Edit] - the Timeline document is now available in HTML form! Full text is coming soon... the ability to post comments is also coming soon...
[Edit] - the Full-text document is now available in HTML form! ANd it's big...

Summary Timeline - Added Aug 18, 4:10pm
Full-Text Timeline - Added Aug 18, 10:20pm

I look forward to seeing it. The chronology must take a heck of a lot of sorting... I still don't have it straight in my mind.

umm check the quick reference section

http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=5259

that is most of it -from the Operator's viewpoint, in my best guess at chronological order. I did it a while ago. I've been away so I haven't checked it for a while.

Also, I am sure that most of the computer text stuff is already assembled.

So we just need to fit those big pieces together.

Ok! I think I've got it all... I'm hoping the formatting sticks. Some text is aligned by its line across column, so as long as you've got Arial Narrow and Arial, hopefully it should all line up on varying computers... If you don't have Word, I'm not sure how similar Wordpad would display the .DOCs... anyway, here they are, take a look... they're locked except for comments, so if there are any changes or corrections, make sure to send them over Smile

I'm hoping to soon get this all converted to html for ease of reading, cross-referencing, online editing, and open-ended columns... but that won't be for a while...

[edit] - moved files to opened thread post

I just updated the fulltext doc with a couple of corrections. If you've already downloaded it, don't worry about re-downloading unless you really want to keep up with the latest version.

update - after a number of hours (my boss would kill me) I've got the summary timeline now in HTML form... no more document download, and easy reading... the top post is updated with the link. I'm hoping the page is browser compatible other than IE Smile heavy use of CSS to cut down on file size... so ya

The full text will be coming soon... of course that one will be crazy... *sigh*

thank you

thebruce - thank you for doing this work. This is so helpful to following the story and I think it will be a very useful tool. Already, I understand the references the Operator was making about the Sleeping Princess much more clearly than I did before.

And, being able to access text through your links should take some stress off the wiki.

Thanks.
