I substituted 1 for W and 0 for V and then broke it up into 5 bit segments to ease conversion. Haven't actually done the conversion yet.

y2kbozo, i've tried a few different ways, but i can't confirm your decoding. could you post the alphabet you used?

btw, i've posted my decoding script and unit test:

you're welcome to use them to test, if you want. they take a cipher file, which is just the alphabet you used, ie the number=>letter mappings, one per line. there's an example:

forged message to mercicontrol from elc3433

one more thing. except for the messages that were sent directly to anthrax, the messages we've received have been from mercicontrol to elc3433. as speculated before, this might mean that we're somehow "listening in" on messages that we're not supposed to see.

so, i decided to have even more fun and send an email from elc3433 to mercicontrol, asking who BLZ0001 is and where my message came from:
