[PUZZLE?] : Dreamprojector stegged images

Hello! I'm new to all of this (two days ago I though ARG stood for Accident Response Group) but it's rather special isn't it? Totally new type of gaming for me, I'm having a great time. Smile

I've spent the last few days reading as much as I can about urban hunt, and I've throughly searched the forum, so I think this is new. Apologies if it's mislabelled or in the wrong thread.

There's a little noise on the photo of Shoemaker here: http://www.dreamprojector.com/nfscience.htm which, combined with the fact that the images are protected from direct download (try right-click, view image in firefox) made me think something might be worth investigation. Checked the cache, there the images were.

Sure enough, a quick stegdetect later revealed something hidden using jphide, in http://www.dreamprojector.com/index.htm (easy download version here). The other images that make up the main site are clean.

stegdetect's exact output was
Code:
drpp001.jpg : jphide(***)

I'm having a little trouble compiling jphide on my machine right now, so I haven't tried to desteg as yet.

Welcome to the madness truant. Be sure to check out the wiki espically "The Guide" section to help get you up to speed on the game.

The possible Steg on the picture is an interesting theory. I've seen StegDetect toss some false positives before, but anything is possible to say the least. I'll take a quick pass on the image and see if anything weird pops up.

I've Attached the Suspected Image below.

If this IS stegged, what are the chances the password is in the fire dream? When I was watching it, I could have sworn that just before the band appeared, there were some letters scrolling by.

Thanks for the welcome Doc, it's a pleasure to be here. I've read both the guide and the wiki, and I'm slowly making my way through the forum here as well. There's quite a lot of stuff to absorb Smile

A false positive hadn't occured to me, but I'll be sure to remember that can happen in future - do you know of any way to double check stegdetect's results, short of guessing the pass phrase correctly (and presusmably finding nothing after that)?
