I rolled back the OS to an older version of Debian (from "Sid" to "Woody," for those that know Debian.) It seems that Sid only comes with Apache2 (Apache1 has been discontinued in this branch) and is not very well configured. Using Woody, I was able to get a slightly more zippy Apache1.

The temporary Wiki should be working quite a bit better now. If you use the Wiki, please log in only to make changes/additions/updates, then log out when you are done. This will make it run faster both for you and for the others trying to access it at the same time. For some reason, the system only serves up cached pages to those that are not logged in.

BriEnigma:

Is anyone assigned to Wiki Clean-Up? Especially with the migration over to the new Wiki, this needs to be done badly, but I don't want to step on anyone's toes Smile

Did I just hear you volunteer? Wink As far as I know, nobody has been assigned or volunteered. I wrote a script to massage the data between the two database formats (for example changing [[This_is_a_topic_link]] to ThisIsATopicLink), but not much more. The text is all there, but there is some extraneous markup (the new Wiki does not like embedded HTML) and some funky formatting (the old wiki wanted bullet points to be lines starting with an asterisk; the new wants likes starting with a space then asterisk).

At any rate, I am simply thankful to have a wiki that actually runs with this amount of traffic. Going from a server load that averages between 16 and 30 down to one that averages less than 1 is a great relief for me. (I realize these numbers mean nothing to non Unix admins, but it is several orders of magnitude of load difference.)
