I *might* be able to hit the other Phoenix location (at the Jo-Ann's). I won't know until this weekend due to my work situation.

jbd, just keep us updated. (keybsnbits... I will not have internet access this weekend, would be so kind as to take care of Phil and update once in a while? (Maybe once/twice a day?) I'll be posting here just before I leave work today (will be later, up to 7-8pm CST, so nearing 5-6pm PDT) so you don't have to worry about today, but if you (or anyone else who volunteers) can just keep track so going into this thing on Monday, we know we're up to date? (although if need be, I can just update the whole thing on Monday anyway...) Let me know!

More than likely, I'll see you there. Even after thinking that nothing would happen at each location, there's no way I'm taking the chance of missing something. So just as a little insurance, the Atlanta coordinate is covered.

I'm going to start off a while before the time hits in the (very) small triangular park between West Peachtree St. and Peachtree St. right where they intersect. Different maps seem to indicate that this is where the coordinates are and others seem to indicate that it is across Peachtree St. from the small park and possibly even a little further north on Peachtree St. than the intersection. I'll have a GPS so it should be easy to determine the exact location fairly quickly. I shouldn't be hard to spot... not too many people wander around with a GPS in nice work clothes (though the small park does play host to a Geocache, and there's another one by the statue ~200 feet north of the park).

If you wouldn't mind humoring a rampant speculator Smile , could you bring a small radio with you and try cycling through the stations? I'll be doing that from home, but if it's not a paid advert and/or if it's a low power station, I might not hear it from West Atlanta. There are a few stations a couple of blocks from the GPS coord, so you might want to keep a close eye on:

1380 AM
750 AM
98.5 FM
92.9 FM

Just trying to cover all bases. I appreciate it!

I'll see what I can do!

Question

One of the locations is close to where I live (it is listed as Raytown, MO, but I think it's probably actually either Independence or Blue Springs). Anyway, the coordinates point to a spot that is about a quarter mile east of a mall. The mall is also across the street from a strip mall and a movie theater. So, the question is: doesn't the mall or theater seem like a more likely spot for something to happen? The actual coordinates seem to point to a stretch of road with nothing on either side. I fear that I will go to the coordinates at the appointed time and I'll miss something we should be seeing at the mall or theater. I know there isn't really an answer to this, but I'm just venting my frustration/confusion.

Also, I mentioned to someone that several coordinates were in Sedalia, MO, which is a pretty small town east of Kanas City. They said "Oh, you mean by Whiteman Air Force Base is, with all the B-2 Bombers?" I don't know what that means, but the confluence of B's made me wonder for a minute.

Sorry to ramble.

Roarke, does this mean that you will be capable of "covering" this location on Bee-Day? Laughing Let me know. Interesting about the AFB though...

"Covering"

I am certainly going to try. I live <5 minutes from there, unfortunately, I work about 45 minutes from there. I may take some time off that afternoon to cover, barring any unforeseen work emergencies. So, to answer your question - maybe.

Any thoughts on the mall vs. the actual (seemingly worthless) coordinates?

Ok, update as of 1:20pm PDT. Phil's getting fuller and we're getting closer to covering every point. We still need a lot of spots covered though. Please take the time to review the excel spreadsheet. If you don't have excel, you can download an excel viewer here. Thanks! And don't forget, you can PM me (as quite a few have done) with your requests to remain anonymous. I delete all information tying your screenname with a location after I update the list, so you don't have to worry about even me having the connection (and if I could remember it all in my head, I wouldn't be using a spreadsheet, and honestly, don't flatter yourself by thinking it would be worth my time to remember where "HaLoFaN343haX0RzR00L5!1!" lives anyway... Wink )

Might it be worth checking out one of the numerous other forums playing along?

Google ilovebees.

Unless they're specifically in the ARG community, I haven't seen anyone outside of this forum taking this seriously enough. Although I admit I don't have the patience to wade through all the "OMG ITS A HALO 2 DEMO RELEASE! WTF ELSE CAN IT BEE? (GET IT!)" crap I just saw when I did google ilovebees. In fact, 50% is BriEnigma's wiki and the actual site. The other half is just banal talk about the game in another context for a couple pages of posts...

although it was funny seeing:

did you mean to look for ilovebeer?

first time poster, lurker from day 1. (i'm lazy)

Dorkmaster,

I'm not working on the 24th and I'm about to go scout out 4 spots in san francisco. the 16:51, 17:03, 17:11, and 18:03. I'm looking for clues but also to see how feasible it is to get from the 17:03 spot to the 17:11 spot, as its a good 17 blocks away.

Also the 09:26 spot is not in SF its in Sausalito CA.

And the 11:50, 15:27, 16:43, and 17:27 spots are listed for Oakland but are actually in Berkeley CA. maybe changing the listings to be more accurate will garner more interest for people in that area.

will check in when I get back and let you know which spots to mark me down for.

-Cystonic

Well cystonic, this is an excellent way to start getting into the fray! I appreciate your commentary and I will change the town names in Phil. I will also list your locations as covered too! Thanks!

Hmm on the static wiki, I noticed that the only listed Fargo point was several miles away from the Fargo point plotted at Unfiction.

Does anyone know why the points at the wiki are strange? Was this before they were changed?

MNPundit, I'm certain that the points on the Wiki were changed or incorrect then... However, Phil is concurrent with the ILB links page currently, at least on this specific point.
