OK, me and Lemures have been talking about the Ann Arbor coordinate over AIM, and we've come to the following conclusions of what we think a good plan should be:

Since the U of M stadium is just south of the coordinate point, we should meet there (parking lot immediately north at Main and E. Keech streets) to discuss last minute plans, like what to do in what situation, and determine who is going to do what (note taking, video/audio recording, pictures of the area, talking on the phone if necessary, etc.). We could then get into as few cars as possible (for non-game reasons, as I'm sure we don't want to have 3-5 cars sitting at the corner with us sitting there waiting for something to happen), and pool our minds to do some last minute spec.

While the event happens, I'm going to have a notebook and pens, and a couple of disposable cameras that can get the picture CDs with me, and Lemures said he'll try to remember his laptop and mic for recording any audio we get. What we need is for anyone going to Ann Arbor to please contact Lemures ("L e m u r e s 3" on AIM) and/or me ("Helostrom" on AIM) so we can get messages back and forth to make a more definite plan. Anybody who says they're with the beekeepers will get my attention about the meeting, and I'm sure Lemures will tell you what to tell him.

The one thing equipment wise that I can think of as an immediate need is a GPS device. If anyone around the area we're talking about has one but no ride and a desire to go to the point, msg me and we'll try to work something out. The closer you are to my route from Wayne to Ann Arbor, the better the chances of meeting up are. If you are going and have a GPS, please join the little team we're going to get together and help us identify the exact point (or as close as you can with your device) we need to be at. I'll look around on Monday for one if I don't get word from anyone about it.

EDIT: Just forgot that on Monday, I'll also be checking the location out for things like a payphone, or anything else we could use a link to other points.

EDIT #2: Time to meet at the parking lot here (Mapquested) (lot is just left of center of the satellite photo) is "officially" 10:15 AM EDT, but schedule any drive times to beat that time, not meet it (traffic on a Tuesday morning can be kinda tough especially if coming through Ypsilanti to the east). Lemures and I will try to be there at 10:00, and will be heading to the coordinates at 10:30, with or without anybody else meeting us there.

Those going on the Ann Arbor trip, i also suggest bringing radios if you can. We may need to be spread out, and still keep contact with each other.

you may also want to all wear trenchcoats and tophats. itll be funny to have a large pack of people standing in a general area with radios wearing them.

I'm going to the Santa Cruz, CA coord (36.964052 -122.020054 10:44 PDT). I'll be there at least 10 minutes early, laptop, cell, and short-wave in tow.

edit: and a camera. don't have anything to record audio with though.

In fact, I think I'm gonna go check it out so I won't be able to miss it when they go hot.

Greyberger, I'll join you there. I go to UT, and I get out of something at 4:15. IIRC, the Austin, Texas location goes off at 4:40-ish CDT, so I may or may not be there on time. If I'm not; stall them. My aim's in my profile, and I've PMed you with my phone number if you feel like calling to coordinate.

I'll join the Austin group as well. aim in profile to coordinate, and I can bring laptop/camera if we need them.

I'll be checking out the Corvallis, OR location::

09:41 PDT - -123.281126,44.569655 | Corvallis, Oregon, United States

I scoped out the area earlier today. I also have direct access to the location, it's on the corner of 2 busy streets right off Oregon State University Campus...

whats up man,

I checked out the SF sites yesterday, 16:51 and 18:03 are practically on top of payphones (I don't have a GPS). 17:03 is at 333 Market and will definatley be a cab ride, and 17:11 is inside the giant Bank of America's customer parking lot. I'll also be going to these spots so write back or give me a call I PM'd it to you. if we can do this together then I think it would be smarter.

Pencil me in for the Anaheim location sicne I am about 5 minutes away from work and can duck out. Will scout it out tomorrow to see what is there anyways...

QUESTION: do you think there will be somethign we need to wear or a passphrase or something we need to do when we get thetre to identify that we love bees?

If I see a cart selling honey, am going over to it Smile....

I'll pickup DFW

Ill take all 3 Dallas locations. The times are fairly far apart from each other and i work third shift so i will have all day to play about the city. I just hope something actually happens so that i won't be disappointed for being a freakin' zombie at work that night. Wink

Down Town Dallas: Wood and Commerce Streets are only a block apart, and following 5 hours later is the North Central expy "event". Anybody in the area wanting to ride along with, pm me and ill hit you up with my cell.

\o/ for field trips!

edit: I will take the "carrollton" point as well, which is really Irving, but is only about two miles from my home. I can make that stop first. Smile

call it a Trout possibly, but methinks that we need to follow the latest blog entry. Sounds like the procedure involves going into a cofee shop and reecieving a dvd or a disc of some kind. But some locations have no shops, and the locatuion I am looking at has multiple shops! Help! Smile

Good idea Nightmare Tony, I hadn't thought of that possibility.

identifying each other

I don't think we need to wear anything particular to identify us. The folks with the audio recording equipment, GPS's, big smiles, and a frantic gleam in their eyes, all crowded around the payphones... that'll be us. Wink

If you get there early in the morning, make sure you don't just idle all day right next to it. Some cities can be real jerks about loitering.
