I'll be at Seattle at 17:35...

I plan to be at the Seattle location at 17:35 PDT, but I don't have a GPS unit... I'm wondering if I can meet up with someone who plans to hit that location who *does* have a unit? Otherwise I'll just best-guess and approximate as best I can.

San Diego is secured, having people take the day off from work to make sure they make it. They're bringing audio recorders and cameras. I'll be wearing yellow antennae. Roar. See you tomorrow, ladies.

Man, we're going to be national security threats with all of the standing around and taking pictures of and around buildings.

Yeah, I kind of wondered about that, too. Especially the part with websites with strange coordinates near busy interstections.

My coverage plans in San Fran FWIW

There are 6 locations in SF and all are in a pretty tight radius.

I will have a hard time hitting the first 2 locations, but will certainly hit the remaining 4.

Since I know there will be plenty of capable people covering all of these loci, I plan to "patrol" on my bike (with a DV camera, binocs, war-drivin' wifi-laptop and possibly additional specialty audio gear in my bag).

My strategy will be to hover on the outer perimeter and use the speed and flexibility of my bicycle to "cover" a wide area. I'll essentially take the "wide angle" approach. I will look around for PM observers, idling cars, people on rooftops, etc. If an actor "flees" or anything else funky goes down, I will (within the bounds of good sense, in-game ethics and the law) scramble a stealthy pursuit.

When you see a grinning geek on a big red hybrid bike with a red, white and blue messenger bag cruising the block, that'll be me covering your back.

SYFer out.

Although I know a couple of other people will be there, I will be at site 16 in downtown Chicago at 9:03AM CST.

I scoped it out today, it's within about 40 feet of 2 pay phones in the front of the old Sun-Times building. Near Kinzie and Wabash, although technically Kinzie is underground at that point on the lower level, the phones are above ground.

I'll be there with a couple of friends in tow.

No... you pretty much have it right (minus the muscles and funny hat anyway). Heh.

BTW, if there's anyone serving as a "comm officer" (I have not managed to read EVERY post), PM me for mobile contact info or just yell out "hey bee man!").

another Penny Arcade drone answers the call

I came here as a result of the recent post on Penny Arcade. This is my first ARG, I guess, since I've gone from gazing in wonder at the ILB site, to reading Dana's blog, to the various wikis and fora. And now I'm volunteering to take a three-hour "lunch" tomorrow and drive up to St. Cloud for the 10:11 axon (4 km SW of Sartell, MN) along with James Blond and Grevlek.

I can't wait.

Syfer,

Addict and I will be hitting the spots in SF also. Addict is gonna hit the last 5 and I will get the last 4. the 17:03 spot looks like it's at 333 market. Problem is that the nearest payphone is inside the building. It does recieve incoming calls though.

My first thought was to split up and Addict would hit 17:03 and I would get to the next spot (only an 8 min time gap), but it might be better to have the two of us at 17:03 (one inside and the other out).

If we do that though then we risk missing the next spot. maybe you could hit the 17:11 first and we will follow as soon as we can. I'll PM you my cell number if you are interested. Or just write back.

The trout in me sez it's not gonna be a phone call. I just can't imagine they'd want to disrupt businesses and there are so many non-callable phones in the list. Confused That part of Market street (and the other SF locations too, as far as I can tell) are big, broad open, heavy foot-traffic areas that would lend themselves well to "street theatrics." This is why I'm taking the "macro" approach" and staying loose and mobile.

And call me crazy, but I think I can touch all the bases on my bike (yeah, I'm one of those curb-jumping crtical-mass-riding maniacs and I know this gritty berg like the back of my hand--oh, safety first and all, but hey). If anything, I might skip #4 if I have to, but am inclined to hit Market first and judge the situation from there.

I do not have a GPS (dang) and am still reading here (and have dl'd the most excellent spreadsheets), but still do not have a super-precise lock on the locations as yet--does anyone have a link to a good post or any very specific recon info they can forward me?

I think I'm going to roll out later this afternoon/evening and take a spin through the spots to time myself. Scope 'em out a bit and see what's what. I'll check in here later and am open to teaming up with you guys or any others who want to launch a focused assault (so to speak). Anyone doing any recon this PM?

Location: Cleveland, Ohio

Cleveland is very thoroughly covered.
At least five for all three axons.
Current Meeting Location: THE SILVER SPARTAN. It's on Juniper Rd, very near Arabica and Location 1.
Current Meeting Time: Between 0800 and 0900.
Equipment covered; 802.11b + Kismet, Laptop w/802.11b, GPS.
Still needing; Digicam, videocam?
Plenty of room for more. Let somebody (me or sfsdfd) know if you're going to be there, and when, so we can get enough seats. Thanks!
