I'm with GunsmithCat - last Friday we had a blog entry AND an e-mail from ladybee777. If we don't get any more information, then I guess I'll show up at my spot... but I'm still skeptical about the "be there or be square" option and hopeful that we'll get more info today.

For the record, we did get an update today from the Sleeping Princess as well. Check out the 404 error page on http://www.ilovebees.com this morning. She's conducting a poll! (Nothing to do with the Axons, as near as I can tell.)

Meh. I'm going to be very dissapointed if that's all this turns out to be: A free-for-all, 'look what we can do' extravaganza on the 24th. This game has been quite clever up to this point, but, with all the ambiguity, changes, and a certain few here that never doubted these as real-world locations, even when all rational thought told us "no way José," I'm starting to lose it.

Enjoy your dancing robots. Rolling Eyes

I'm still not buying it until we get an updated coords list.

Some of the points are in cornfields, side of highways, on people's lawns.

I know I've argued a lot against there being a physical interaction at these locations at the given times, but it does seem awfully hard to interpret her blog entry any other way.

Still, there's some odd choices of phrasing in her post that make me think there's a puzzle lurking in there somewhere:
  • "Some kind of instinct to fill up empty spaces"
  • "So the café, of course, was just a cover."
  • "it always seems to help to talk out loud about dreams that don't make sense"

I'm with this group. I wouldn't say the Dana blog is conclusive that we should go; however, if we shouldn't, I'd venture a guess her blog would be more definitive in suggesting that you not take off work and go.

Nevertheless, given that the nearest point to me is 3 hours away, I'm not going to be going, so I'm going to choose to find another way to interpret these coordinates. Also, it seems that we have nothing to do until Tuesday if we do choose to interpret the coordinates only as a place to visit.

Plus, given the history of this game, I don't want to hang out on Tuesday and receive a clue so baffling that I'll have to wait for the blog entry or email on the 27th just to understand it.

It strikes me more as a "if you want something to be there, it'll be there" than outright confirmation. More like our actions will direct how this thing goes down.

I knew something was bothering me about her post. It's thematically consistent with last week's post:

On 8/13 Dana wrote:

Lesson learned: Looks can be deceiving here, even when dealing with something as simple as the donut.

On 8/20 Dana wrote:

First she tells a story in which she thought something is a donut by looking at it, but it wasn't. Now she's told us a story in which she thought something was a café by looking at it, but it wasn't. In my mind (as I've said before), this strongly suggests that the PMs are telling us "you're not looking at what you think you're looking at".

It still doesn't seem like we have enough information to do anything else with the coordinates (unless we get yet another update other than the blog post and the 404 page) but there has to be more to this. There has to be!
Or maybe I just really want there to be...

Of course, it could be that the physical-event camp and the puzzle-camp are both right. It could be that was originally just a puzzle but now there seems to be so many people willing to show up that something will be at some or all of the locations.

Meh, maybe I'm just too invested in it being a puzzle. Confused

The more time I spend pondering these lines

Quote:
You guys are the ones on the frontlines. So it's your call. Do you want to be there when the axons go hot?

I'll be at an Internet café on the 24th, waiting to find out

the more I think that we should stay on the net that day. After all, Dana is going to be on the net. Granted, she's overseas, but still...

I'd interpret that as that she can't be there physically so she wants us to post what happens.

Besides the things other people have mentioned, two phrases that stuck out at me were "horror movie" and "huge stacks of discs." Probably nothing more than wishful thinking on my part.

Exactly. She never says to go. She asks if we are going, then continually tells us how things are not as they seem. But who is being misled? Us or Melissa?

I think the 404 update is evidence that the questions posed are on the right track. Unless, the SP is misleading us.

I'll tell you right now, Dana: No. I'll sit back here and hold the fort, all the while wondering why 220 (210 now? Make up your minds) locations are necessary.

I do think this is the PM's urging us to turn up, though. Otherwise I'd expect something along the lines of "Don't go, it may be dangerous... blah blah blah, yadda yadda about donuts and cream-filled hot dogs."

I am getting a little pissed off at this Dana person. I was hoping she'd tell us today that she was coming back early from China. To help. She's the one with the computer infected by planet-killing aliens, and she's wandering around eating doughnuts.

Of course, I realize she's sort of stuck in her role at least for the moment, because if she did actually do anything productive like get the server shut down, there wouldn't be a game.

Oh well. Maybe she will eventually come back (after the infestation has spread) and do something heroic (and photogenic, for the guys out there).
