[INFO/SPEC]Napa Valley, CA and San Francisco, CA

You might want to check this out:

HUGEIANTIC MAPQUEST URL

That seems a little odd, doesn't it? That the city the website gives you is forty miles away from the address the honey was sent from.

EDIT - Removed the ginormous URL - SG

WOW! 40 miles!

That's a long way on foot.

Thank goodness we have these handy things to get us around now

I hear they even make them with a hydrogen engine now, to cut down on pollution in California.

Thank you technology!

You're missing the point. Why would a small business owner, who only has two or three hives, set up shop forty miles away? It's not a question of distance, per se, but of economics.

You're right... I am missing the point. Though perhaps you are, too.

ITS A GAME! Good gravy. If I worried this much whether the streets in Monopoly were the correct distances from each other in real life, wow, would I not have any friends.

But you go right ahead and ponder the minutiae all you want.

If you go to the discrepancies site on the wiki, you'll find another problem with their story that I put up. Truth of the matter is, we just don't care. That was put there so that it would be documented. We're not analyzing it...

Dana lives in San Francisco, right? (see blog profile).

Maybe she was heppin' out her aunt by doing the mailing.

I imagine she has a car if she lives in SF and goes hiking in the Berkeley hills (like 15-20 miles? away).

I was going to let you all figure out my point, but it seems that is impossible.

My point is, the SF location is not Margaret's at all. I think the relevancy of the address is more than you think. Correct me if I'm wrong, but no where on the website does it mention Margaret's House of Bees. It could be a made up location by the AI, or something.

You're most likely correct. The SF location is probably one of the PMs who wandered down one day to the local UPS store, dropped off his/her santa sack of packages to send out to people and then went and had a donut at the Krispy Kreme, not imagining that it would lead to a debate on whether or not Margaret has the economical means to travel 40 miles to ship something.

If indeed this is run by Bungie, then the shipping address would be from Washington. Alta, the person who is supposedly the one who came up with this, is in Seattle right now, and Bungie is located at 1, Microsoft Way, which is, as we all know, in Washington.

You're not going to let this die, are you?

Welcome to the beauty of the internet, where groups can meet but not be all in the same physical location.

Again, enjoy your minutiae.

I, personally, am going for a Krispy Kreme.

No, I won't let this die, no matter how foolish you think it is. This could potentially be an integral part of the plot, and I think that we should grab hold of whatever we can get. How would completely disregarding this benefit us?

Perhaps Aunt M does not have road mail delivery where she is. Due to the difficulty of getting things shipped to PO Boxes, she was forced to open a Mailboxes Etc. mailbox. Since Dana lives right near one, Aunt M asked her to take one out and keep an eye on it for her.

Because ... we have no further information to go on?

If, indeed, an ARG takes the game to a level where it starts involving real-life locations, there will probably be plentiful clues scattered about to guide us towards a puzzle or situation or plot development. Right now, we got nada. No, check that. We've got some people desiring to wildly speculate.

Keep it tucked like an ace, up yer sleeve. That way, if there's more info, you can gleefully post and show us all up for ignorant fools. In the meantime, there ain't much here, bub. I'd await further information.

But then why is the address credited to a "Margaret's House Of Bees" on the initial package that was sent out? Those packages could be key.

That is their working address, for one it appears more professional then a regular home business. By using a single address, you simplify paperwork and permit orders that are prohibited for PO Boxes.
