[SPEC/TROUT?] Eavesdropping in Concord, NH?

I know how "made up" this sounds, so I'm preemptively applying TROUT to my subject. I also realize that I've not posted here before, so there's no prior authenticity to the truthfulness of what I'm saying. Regardless, I've been reading since the long haul, was a lurker on the Beast, ran a poll on ILB at my Gamegrene.com site, and yadda yadda yadda.

Question: has there been any thoughts about Dana's post on eavesdropping?

This morning, roughly ten minutes before I went to lunch, I checked the wiki, saw Dana's new post, read it quickly, and then left to get some food. Before I continue, realize that Concord, NH is about 20 minutes from Manchester, NH - one of the original axons.

So, I'm near the corner of Pleasant St. and South/North State (about 50 feet from the building where I work, a sysadmin at an ISP, and an IP address that has been hitting ILB and Dana's site regularly), when I walk by this lady. She looked like a regular old business woman, wearing sunglasses (not odd - it was sunny), and holding a purse. She was one of about seven or eight folks around that same location, and was walking toward the corner. From what I could tell, she wasn't walking with anyone.

Behind this person, following closely, was a tall guy in a red shirt (I think) and holding his earlobe, just like Dana's latest entry. We made eye contact, cos you know, hell, a guy holding his lobe walking down the street is pretty weird.

As paranoia and "seeing things where there is nothing" set in, I recall hearing some noise that was NOT regular human conversation. It wasn't conputerized or spooky or anything - it sounded human, but also sounded recorded - kinda like an answering machine message of some sort.

I'm a fast walker (I'm on lunch break after all) so by the time all this junk jelled in my head, I was nearly a block away, and had lost sight of them. Half dubious myself, I continued walking, and never went back to see what was up.

The more I ate, the more this grated on me. Could this business lady be carrying a transmission? Was the lobeguy another player, eavesdropping on the transmission, but letting other players know what was up? The eyecontact seems important to me now - when you're walking down the street in a huff, you generally don't /try/ to make eyecontact with people (or, at least, I don't).

Thoughts?

I think you're just paranoid. But that's ok, I this point, we all probably are. I don't think it is a good idea to assume anyone outside of the ilb site, especially a real live physical person, has anything to do with the game. And that noise you heard, could have been a person with a stoma or other medical condition that necitates the use of a speaking device.

Perhaps we should start holding our earlobes as a signal to other beekeepers. That would be cool! And a secret handshake...

Just today my girlfriend and I were on our way to meet her parents for
dinner at Applebee's. We needed to stop and get coffee and again to get
her some hair products.
We pulled up to the espresso stand by my house and all the 17 yr. old girls
inside were jumping around and waving their arms. I laughed but asked
politely "Are you OK?". They said "No".
"What's the problem?" said I.
"There's a bee's nest on the roof and they are all over in here." one replied.
Now, I've been going to this espresso stand for about 5 years and just as
I was going to suggest that they call the manager, I recalled that her name
is "Maggie".
I shut up, got the coffees and left.
Later, I sat outside RiteAid reflecting on bees as my girlfriend got back in
the car. She was smiling and held up her haircare product. To my horror,
it was that beeswax hair gunk.
I know that Microsoft is a huge company with alot of money but man I'm
impressed with the lengths that they'll go to to keep me immersed in this
game.
