I assume it is our task to identify the correct seating arrangement?

My initial guess is a circle with each queen facing out and the bishop in the middle. They only state that the queens wanted to hear the sermon, not see it.

Another theory is that the bishop gives the sermon to each queen individually, so only one queen is in the room at a particular time.

Whatever the solution, this is a lateral thinking puzzle, meaning you'll have to think "out of the box" to answer it. Bring no assumptions and only use the facts.

Thoughts?

After reviewing the "puzzle" again, it seems to imply that the auditorium consists of eight rows of seats.

Are the seats immoveable? My guess is yes...
