[SPEC] Relevant Literature and Crescent City Rhapsody

Ok, so this is my first post and the begining of my official parcticipation in the ARG community. I used the search function, and I didn't see it mentioned anywhere, so here goes. This may be a longshot, or it may have some relevance.

I read a book called Crescent City Rhapsody. In it, the earth is assailed by electromagnetic waves of unknown origin in space, and technology as we know it ceases to work for any reliable period of time. Developments to nanotechnology and nanoassemblers are made so that they function on a biological level. The crescent city is an organic city being grown out at sea, as a peaceful paradise, and I don't believe it is related. However, the way in which the organic data is transferred is through bees. Modified bees carry data like pollen in specialy modified cellular databanks, and interface with "flower" receptors on top of buildings and other structures.

While the nanoassemblers are generally safe, since they are made to not self-replicate, some people modified them to induce "plauges" that reprogram thoughts and bodies. Almost all of paris' populace is turned into bees that all follow the same edict of whatever cult programmed the nanoassmblers. However, at one point a person of extrodinary intelligence actually is transformed into a Queen bee, and directs the activities of all the other "bees" in the area.

My speculation is this: Perhaps the choice of "queen", "princess," and ilovebees are literary references in and of themselves, whether out of game by the PMs or in game by Mellissa. I'm working off the future AI theory, and reason would suggest that she would have access to previously existing texts, since other references are right in there. If it is an in-game reference, then perhaps the content of the book reflects the nature of the AI and how it works, through many small entities. Or maybe it was just why ilovebees was chosen, because the book reflected the nature of the AI and it went to something familiar.

I'll leave the rest of the SPEC to people with a more fleshed-out story, since I'm having a hard time peicing it all together.

Sorry if this is a trout, but I didn't see the book title anywhere else.

Looking forward to tommorow! I can't make it to the philly site, since I'll be at work. If its not time sensetive after arrival, maybe I could go down later and grab it.

Regards,

-Alex
