Blip

(paraphrasing) We got an intruder... it's a woman. She disappeared!

(wish I hadn't been so busy at work yesterday... wish there had been an Axon in Wilmington DE)

Please everyone, let's try to remain organized today. Discussion of the .wav files is being had in this thread. (Edit: as well as this one)

Use the corresponding thread for the corresponding subject.

Activated the Cleveland axon

I activated the Cleveland 06:11PDT axon this morning. At this point, it's just kind of routine.

Interesting observation, though: You know how Melissa says "Repeat or continue" at the end? And how "continue" just locks you out?

I listened to the recording, and then said "repeat," and it played it again. And then I said "repeat" again, and it played it again. I repeated it six times, I think. This went on for about eight minutes - surely overlapping the next coord.

So, just out of idle curiosity: Did the phone at the next coord ring on time? Are the phones now ringing on time, or are they running a few minutes behind?

This could be a litmus test for whether the process is fully automated, or whether the PMs are manually controlling any part of it. Just out of curiosity, someone should try saying "repeat" about 100 times, to see (a) if the PMs just terminate the call at some point, and either (b) if the other phones continue to ring on time (including during the protracted call) or (c) if the times afterwards get manually adjusted back to compensate.

Repeat worked for you? In talking to the Boulder, CO folks, they siad that they tried repeat and got the same results as continue.

Maybe they are using voice recognition software similar to a utility company around here. It's not terribly good at picking up accents, soft speaking, etc. (it's always dumped me to an operator ... no pun intended)

Jersey

Someone activated an additional Jersey node... proof positive that we can get ALL 210 eventually. Looks like not only is there a Wednesday, but there'll be a Thursday too. Hope we get a 7/7 today. Wish I could make the trip to NYC for a node today, but am too busy at work. Can't take any more days off due to my upcoming honeymoon (getting married Sunday).

PS: I *REALLY* hope we get all the NYC Axons hot before the RNC!! Otherwise, I KNOW someone's gonna be questioned by the FBI, etc.

Activated the St. Louis axon for "hey_soldier". Just something interesting about a couple of the st. louis locations. One was in a best buy, black and yellow logo, and another was right next to an applebee's.

It seems like there's a three-time limit on how many times you can have her repeat the .wav file.

You don't need to upload blip. now that the .wav file is activated just go to the web page and dl from ILB. Otherwise good work people keep it up!

Thank you, aliendial! I messed up the time and missed the 13:26 call at the Ballston metro stop in Arlington VA (only a block from my home)! I tried to find the 14:11 call in D.C., but the phone I waited beside didn't ring. So many thanks as well to whoever picked that call up... was the phone inside the Simthsonian metro? With two failures I was determined, so I went to Georgetown and picked up the 5:23 call (axon hot).

I was the one who got the 14:11 call, and it was in the Smithsonian Metro station. Luckily they picked the phone I was at, and not the two down on the platform (when I went down to take the metro I saw those and cursed bungie out for putting the location in the metro station in the first place.

Thanks for getting the 15:23 call though.

Apparently if you miss the call there is another following call a little later that is just silence and then *click* they hang up. One of the guys made it to the pizza hut just in time to get this call, and this morning at the 11:53 eyes we got that silent call after a "prank" call asking if "bob" was there probably got in the way of the true "eyes" phone call.

I'll see if I can't manage to be at both of these tomorrow if this actually does continue.

Interesting at both of the SF sites that I attended (search up for my previous posts, Reflected and Our_Hoodlums), someone called for a Bob.

At the Bensenville location, it was fairly quiet (indoors, just crappy elevator music playing inside)... We repeated as long as we could, since we had 12-15 people there... We were only able to do so about 5-6 times. (if that... I gotta re-check my video) So I think it's kind of arbitrary. Maybe it's a matter of IF the next axon picks up, then you get no more repeats. You know, like a two-phone system. If no one's picked up, it knows it's got another 3-4 minutes before it has to dial again, and you get about 6-8 minutes repeat time (maybe more if two axons stay cold after you or more?) But you get what I'm saying, I'm sure.

40.757145 -73.98724 - NY Times Building, New York, NY

(I'm putting times in PDT even though I'm on Eastern time)

7:50 PDT - Realized that the last coordinate of dizzy was happening in 33 minutes. At that point we already had dizzy.wav but hadn't really gotten it "the right way" (only had 1/2) and wasn't sure if people were gonna go to the other places. Debated for a couple of minutes whether to leave work in the middle of a company teleconference meeting. It really was a no-brainer.
7:55 PDT - Run-walked out of the office headed towards the subway
8:06 PDT - Got on subway at Wall St. station
8:18 PDT - Arrived at 42nd St/Times Square in 12 minutes. Thank god for express trains. Ran like a maniac.
8:20 PDT - Got to the NY Times building. Gabriel (the same guy who answered the phone at 11:17 PDT yesterday) was there by the payphones in the lobby. A couple of young Halo fanboys showed up moments later (sorry guys, didn't catch your names)
8:23 PDT - Phone rang, Gabriel picked up, "Melissa/Operator", message played. He said "repeat", but it didn't repeat, so I didn't get to hear it Sad S'ok though, AXON IS HOT

Turns out I didn't need to go, since it was already 2/2 by that point, and Gabriel was there anyway. Boy, was that fun though! I'm still out of breath!

Dud SF axon on 11th

I'm gonna *try* to get to the 5:11pm SF location a little earlier and test calling all the phones in the area. There may have been others that I didn't see, (like in the BofA building) cause it was just SYFer and me at that axon. Let's try for 7/7!
