At any rate, there's been absolutely no one to my knowledge to answer the phone at the 37.116303 -76.464415 (1km South of Hidenwood, near Hampton, VA [edit: "Reflected"]) *snip*

Status update: Not a dang thing happened. The payphone in question seemed to be not functioning correctly, probably due to a problem with the receiver's cord (it was frayed). We also stationed 2 guys at the Kroger's Grocery Store and the Gas Station nearby, in case the GPS coordinates were not 100% correct, but at 3:53 EDT (12:53PDT) there was no rings at any of these payphones. We'll have pics uploaded and possibly some video as soon as we can.

UPDATE: I am part of this team, and we found the right location. I answered the phone today, it's an Uno's Bar and Grill inside a shopping center in Yorktown, VA. The axon is hot, hopefully that will help.

16:03, Burbank, California

16:03 meditape coordinate, Burbank, California, take three.

Flush from success at the 'troy' axon, I get to the Burbank Media Center early again, and I'm wondering to myself which of the three groups of pay phones I should hover around this afternoon. For no particular reason, I scan the mall's map again...

...and it hits me like a ton of those things out of which you can build a pig's house.

THERE'S ANOTHER SET OF PAY PHONES IN THE MALL!!!

According to the little symbols on the map, there are phones at the opposite end of the third floor. I'm fairly certain that no one was there back on Tuesday, so I head over to check them out, and there they are.

Three lovely unoccupied phones...

All three accept incoming calls...

They all ring, quietly but audibly...

(...wait for it...)

...But not, alas, at 16:03. Bang Head Cursing Crying or Very sad

10:38 durga is HOT

Shnitzle and I each guarded a payphone. At the appointed time, it came in at a phone that was a block and a half from the coords. When casing the area originally, I wrote off this payphone because it didn't have a posted number. When I double checked this morning, it did have a number posted, but up in a different place (not underneath the receiver). I tried calling it and it rings! So this was indeed a likely candidate.

One funny thing.. this phone is right outside a Subway that I sat in while waiting for the proper time the day before.

Wynn,

When myself and others were telling the supervisors at the McDonalds about the situations - one of them indicated that the phone had rung, but it wasn't every day.

Maybe a glich in the autodial system caused it.

On a completely different note:

Has anyone else noticed if the working phones have three 7s in the phone number? Both of them on Hyannis (listed as Barnstable) did.

The one by the carousel on the mall did not have three sevens. One of the phones had no sevens, the other had one. I don't remember which rang.

We sighed, but about a minute later it rang again. That time I picked it up, and there were about 2 seconds of static; when it ended I said "yoohoo, are you there?" and then probably mumbled something about the Operator, and then they hung up.

It is possible that the second call was not the PMs, but one of the players, though, just calling that phone (a few minutes later the phone next to it rang, and someone asked us where we were).

That's exactly what it was, I was at the phone in front of the McDonalds and (oh crap, I forgot his name) the guy in the black shirt and shorts call over there to see if you guys had any news, but for some reason, he couldn't hear you.

Heh, that would have been me. Good to see we got it over the weekend, sorry I couldn't make it again to help out.

Indy axons are all HOT!

All the Axons in Indianapolis are hot… the walmart one was a little tricky. But the more I think about it the more I believe we need to be going off of addresses that correspond to GPS cords not just going straight to the coordinates. The GPS cords for the Hey_Soldier in Indianapolis led to the street address for the Walmart, but the Walmart itself was several hundred yards away! I checked on the Geocode website and the coordinates for the address were EXACTLY right. It took a little bit of doing to make sure all the phones were covered. I guessed right. There were a few other guys out there covering other phones. I think they took some pictures to immortalize the event. Big fun.
My six month old Daughter was there as well. She was also at the other site in Indianapolis when it went hot. She is a good luck charm or something. Stranded artificial intelligences must love babies…

I don't know. I got the impression from Nuriko's posts that someone did.

The guy that picked up at the zoo said "It's hot" and it never showed it on the website. Both celina and I posted on the "Why tha axon didn't go hot" thread about the situation. I think the guy at the zoo was too embarassed to say "I'm a noob and called her Cortana."

On a lighter note, great job at the Zoo. I live in North County and I didn't want to get killed during rushhour. Smile

Janesville, WI (15:11) axon is now hot.

I gave it another shot today, armed with the knowledge that the street-address-to-GPS lookup website gave the street address of a Culver's restaurant as the exact GPS coordinates listed on ILB. There was a payphone in one of the exits of the Culver's as someone else had observed earlier, and it was the correct one.

The reason that this one threw me for such a loop was that, according to my GPS, this phone is almost a thousand feet from where my GPS unit says it should be. It's certainly possible that there's a problem with my GPS unit, but I don't have any easy way to be sure.

Some friends of mine visited the 11:49 AXON in Portland, OR (Lloyd Cinemas) and I was told they were asked, "What is my name" and my friend said "Melissa", but all she head after that was a giggle and then some "ilovebees" chatter until it hung up.

The AXON didn't go hot, so we aren't sure. I think this is the same AXON as was used before, so I don't see why it wouldn't have worked. has anyone else had a similar experience?

Tell ya what - since we already have other threads for these reports, and this thread is the reports on the first set of axons, I'm gonna lock this too.
