Just came back from the 16:03 "Meditape" location. The position was plotted just inside the Burbank Media Center Mall. About 15 of us covered two sets of phones on the lower level, south side. Nothing happened. Sad There was another set of phones on the upper level, nothing there, either. Couldn't see any other payphones outside the mall. I guess it's possible we could have missed another payphone but it seems unlikely.

While we were waiting a teenage kid going up the escalator called out to us and said "Did you find your beeeeeeesssssss?". I thought that was funny.

Yes, definitely payphones. Indeed pretty surely verizon payphones. But read previous posts - the phone can be pretty far away from the GPS location. Farther than we thought possible. Think creatively -- if they just GPS'd the address, then anything in the building might qualify....

I can confirm that the Irving Axon was also a Verizon payphone.

OK, maybe just brand-name (Baby Bell) payphones rather than secondary companies...

I was at Baltimore, MD, for message_saved at 5:14, and I found the phone.

Or at least where the phone was. It had been ripped straight off the wall. Pictures were taken. Fortunately other sites managed to get the call. Smile

Same problem, also with message_saved, at 5:29. There was a phone booth with a wire hanging out of it, no phone. Kind of a letdown, really. Was glad to see somebody managed it though.

That was one of the NY/Conneticuty ones, right?

I think you're right ... PB or SBC (remember that SBC van too?) ... can't verify until tomorrow night or possibly in the morning, but did you notice that the cover story for the SC Metro this week is on beekeeping? Very Happy (I'm serious! Pretty funny.)

The "Wilton" one, although it was really in Norwalk.

i went to the second Palo Alto location (16:47), along with about a dozen other people. There was no phonebooth anywhere near the area - the closest one being more than a block awayat the Junior Musuem, and I tested it - it didnt receive incoming calls. I recorded portions of the adventure, which I will upload for peoples enjoyment. I also got my picture taken - at the end, i was walking back to my car and saw the whole group of beekeepers. I ran there in time to get a group photo, which I hope will turn up somewhere. anyhow, it was interesting, even if it was a dud. I

PS - I left this message on the hotline, but have no idea where the hotline messages are being posted, so if this is redudndant for some, sorry.

San Diego

Went to the San Diego 16:59 and found nothing there aside from a phone outside Lowe's and another two inside Ikea. We had two people watching Ikea and one watching the Lowe's. None of the three of us caught a phone ringing...

...but the axon is hot? I searched up and down for more phones on my way out, and didn't find any. Anyone catch it? Where was it?

Went to the 15:35 coordinate (Wauwatosa, Wisconsin - keyword "escape") and saw a dozen+ Haloites there (no negative connotation, just people that didnt seem entirely down with the whole ARG scene) - saw Varin there, and it wasn't until 15:37 to realize our payphone doesn't accept incoming calls.

So hung out, got interviewed by a technology reporter from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, speculated a bit. Then I had to leave. Exciting stuff, no?

A DC success

Thank you, aliendial! I messed up the time and missed the 13:26 call at the Ballston metro stop in Arlington VA (only a block from my home)! I tried to find the 14:11 call in D.C., but the phone I waited beside didn't ring. So many thanks as well to whoever picked that call up... was the phone inside the Simthsonian metro? With two failures I was determined, so I went to Georgetown and picked up the 5:23 call (axon hot).

1st hi_aiden axon in SF

Been watching the action today unfold on the forum, so I sneak out of work for the first hi_aiden axon at 37.775 -122.41833 in SF on 11th and Market, set for 5:11pm PDT.

There are no phones on the entire street that the gps printout from acme shows. so I turn the corner at 11th and market, and behold, two PacBell pay phones Smile There were no other phones going the opposite direction, so I figure this has got to be the place. Strangely, I was the ONLY one there until about 5 min till the scheduled time, then Cypher rolls up on his bike and asks if I'm a beekeeper. I answer in the affirmative. Cypher explains that everyone was at the last SF location accross town, but there was only a 20 min window between that one and the one I'm at. So he spys another set of PacBell phones across the street (that I didn't see) on Market and watches those. The time comes...my watch alarm goes off....nothing! We waited at least 5 more minutes, comunicating with hand and arm guestures accross the busy street, but no dice.
One of the phones was listed as not accepting incomming calls, the other was not, but neither of them rang :/ Neither did the ones Cypher was watching. Oh well, this was the first axon for hi_aiden, I hope other are successfull and make this axon go hot! Good luck everyone!

RD
