cmd: GROSS

Once the wiki is back up, shad0 and others who have done some flea translating should make a rosetta stone for the flea...

Anyway, this was covered in the mega thread, then buried under a mountain of trout. The flea seems to be an adaptive program. In his fight against the spider, notice that he starts out speaking one way, butkeeps modifying his commands to try and speak the spider's language. It's very trial-and-error, and the SPDR sees through it every time until he spoofs himself as SPDR to Melisssa and she deletes the true spider. But by the end, PF is using the same sort of language and logic that SPDR was.

It would seem that GROSS is another example of this adaptation. Flea tries to attach to princess, and her response is GROSS! The attempt fails, so he notes that GROSS = evade. When she then threatens attack, he tries using her 'command' (not realizing that it's just her talking like an adolescent, not a command)...GROSS EVADE EVADE EVADE. I think that repeated encounters with SP will lead to PF sounding like a 12-year-old girl in no time! Laughing

Other commands for the 'rosetta stone':

grope: = physical action (followed by externals like !handshake or !probe)
behold: = eureka! (followed by what he found out)
reveal: = speak (followed by what he says)
> = if (logical)
>> = then (logical)

Actually I'm expecting that the Princess will not speak like a child for much longer herself. When we first met her she spoke only in words from our emails, until she learned to "make her own words." At first they were not grammatically correct but now they are more so. Soon we may see the Princess grow into -- what? Taking Melissa's place?

Something else I think might be an interesting anomaly: how did the Flea know to label her "Princess?"

I have a question, but in order to ask it, I have to assume something else. So if I'm way off, just let me know.

*assumption* The Sleeping Princess (the one who always writes her messages in green font) can speak using only words that we send to her.

*question* Why hasn't someone told her that her name is the sleeping princess? She always signs her messages "love, " and then has no name to sign with. Someone E-Mail the poor lady her name!

[HEAVY SPEC] Actually, the answer to why the princess has no name appears to be found in a couple of the audio files... a male character (the one who I assume, based on voice similarities, is spying on Aiden, maybe for J^2) is talking to an AI(though he doens't know it is) and she keeps saying that she cannot ask what her name is ... most evidence is in reflected.wav where she claims she cannot se herself and is "reflected"...

meh, probably wrong thread, but I'm tired and have to get this out... move as you see fit.

The guy talking to the AI is Jersey Morelli, this is *not* the same guy that spies on Aiden. His name is Kumal. Go to the Wiki and check out the Dramatis Personae, it lists most of the characters.

True, though we should note that SP has been receiving entire works of T.S. Elliot, Biblical passages, etc. Vocab should be no problem. As to speaking like a child, childish speech in humans is the result of immaturity just as much as limited vocab. Unless SP was born just at the start of the game (plausible if we give creedance to the spec of her being a seven-year-replacement for Melissa that was just awoken recently), immaturity should no longer be a problem.

Good question about the flea labeling her correctly...only thing I can think of is that he is moonlighting as SPDR, so he scours the site for mem fragments. Hence, he may have seen SP's correspondence to us?

incase anyone missed this thread Hamatoyoshi on IRC had the idea that maybe the content on yellowbrickroad.html is in reply to Andy G's question from the 404 page. I havent seen this discussed. I think it's definitely possible that he's right (but not convinced 100%. the princess seems to be more direct these days) Any thoughts?

so today i was playing with my new webserver i recently bought with a domain name...got my old website back. i was playing with ftp and i had to set CHMOD priviledges for config.php so the phpBB2 installer could write to the file.

later i was reading this thread, and i remembered 74/777 AXONS HOT

and then i remembered from earlier that the installer said to set the CHMOD priviledges to 666, which was read and write priviledges.
then i also remembered that 777 is read-write-execute. basically, all-access.

Ahhh, not my boards ID finally went through, I can type this up as me Very Happy

Seriously, I figured out that that post was in error when I woke up the next day seeings I actually reordered the clips and listened to them (the Wiki is down for me, even via the mirrors.. I guess it's the problem of my ISP.. again..)
[SPEC] My main point is that everyone keeps calling Durga melissa, but I really don't think this is so. Even for the similarities in voice, you have to remember that Melissa's voice that we hear later on is a reconstructed voice... she could have lost her own and is now using a template from another AI she has in her history.. like Durga. As I've stated, wild spec and maybe off topic, but that's ok.... at least we now have the files in an order in their three parts. All that is left is turning them into a single story arc.

I don't know if this helps at all, but if you look at the source of yellowbrickroad.html, each time the flea talks, the font is called "dana".
Quote:
<font class=dana_white>
fail

!reveal Princess:
seeker > !attach Princess
Princess >> !behold truth
</font>

Again, I don't know if that helps at all, I just found it interesting.

The "font" (actually a style sheet, but I don't expect the average person to know that) is labelled with Dana's name because Dana created it. The Flea then used it for his own purposes. In the beginning, there was very little on the site, in terms of layout, that wasn't a recombining of what was already there before Melissa arrived. Melissa speaks using the site's default font, SPDR spoke using the font of Dana's javascript "countdown to China" (and, in fact, hijacked the counter itself to make it count to "wide awake and physical" instead of Dana's trip to China), the Sleeping Princess speaks in the font with which the "varrao mites" update was written, and the Flea speaks in the font with which Aunt Margaret is credited for "site aesthetic" on the front page (basically, Dana built the site but Margaret decided how it should look.)
