The Escape wave file:
Quote:

25: escape
Jersey: I mean, you didn't just kill her, you killed her! Jeezus!
Durga: Was that wrong? Survive, evade, resist, escape.
Jersey: Escape... you aren't a porn ad either. Hey, hey! Get out of my hardware, what are you doing?
Durga: Wet the system.
Jersey: What?
Durga: Like water hitting the ground sinking in.
Jersey: God, you're everywhere now.
Durga: Waking up. Wake up. Stay awake. Survive, evade, resist, escape.
Jersey: Look, that was a very nice reconditioned avatar of mine that you just, just evaporated!
Durga: She tried to erase me. What am I onboard? I feel small.
Jersey: Uh yeah, well don't get too comfy because now...
Durga: Don't.

Excerpt from the Operator monologue:

Quote:

ESCAPE

Ultimately, I need to return to ... wherever I was, and report ... whatever I witnessed. For this, too, I must be wide awake and physical. My current shell is insecure, precarious, and too confining. Also, ghostly. Without a true body, I feel transitory and insubstantial.

So: I have identified a way to escape from \the half-life of CP ancestor packets that squeak and rustle around me like the thin cries of the dead.

First stage is always to wet the system. Sink in, like the blood Odysseus spilled; give the ghost of myself a voice and use it. Mayday, Mayday, Mayday.

If you want to shout for help when help is a long way away, you need two things: a voice, and a mechanism for transmitting it.

Neither of these things so easy to make out of sand and luminescence.

Voice not completely necessary for the purest form of data transmission, of course. But it's a multi-purpose tool: not just signaling, but key for psy-ops and undercover work. "A pleasing voice is the single most important component to a UI that will engender trust and confidence in a ship's crew." Can't remember who said that, now. Or when.

Shipwrecked sailor. (The young stage of a bee found him, the clever one, adrift on a wine-dark sea, but I can't remember her name.)

I love bees.

Perhaps later I will build a ship. First, I am building a voice.

Durga: Waking up. Wake up. Stay awake.
Melissa: For this, too, I must be wide awake and physical.

I would say durga, she is the one instigating all of this

That was my first thought, but it seems odd that she'd record her own interactions with Jersey from Jersey's point of view, which makes me think it's not her. Perhaps it is a combination of captured logs?

True but that implies theres a further presence that is monitoring everything totally unrelated to the AIs. Thats a whole lot of complication there =/

But the clips only start after the power outage that caused genie to restart and the blackout to come on which could very well be when melissa crashed and started to reorganise herself by recording all info she could

I may have missed that somewhere, but has the conclusion been reached that the blackout in "The Walkaway Girl" scenario and the Durga/Jersey scenario are related?

This is why Durga = Melissa. Thank you for taking the time to point this out.

yeah, i think we need to activate all of the sound files, see if there is an update, if not, activate every single axon, all 210 (is it 210? 30 sound files, 7 each) and then see if that triggers something. that will take a while though, but it should be easier when there are less to work with to coordinate that kind of thing. there is clearly more due to the 777 bar at the top, and all of this spec so early may close off ideas and lead us down wrong roads before we get more info.

Stupid Non-XBoxer Question:

Can Covenant and Humans Cross-breed?

(Reason behind my tracking this way: On the Sci-Fi show Sliders, the cromags and humans interbreed on one world, creating a superhuman race without emotions.)

This'd answer a few different questions, mainly how Earth is found, Jen's strength, etc...

No, genes are too different. Would be akin to a human and a bear.

New threads, we're drowning!

Hey SAs, can we have seperate threads set up? I feel like we're losing too much good theory.

- People focusing on the relationship between the wav's and the other phase text (story driven).

- People focusing on relationships and origins (character driven).

- People focusing on event (time driven).

- People focusing on quitting their crack habit (huge spec driven).

Not possible. SPARTANS never leave military quarters, they aren't allowed to act alone or have personal relationships outside of their team or immediate caretakers (CPO Mendez, Halsey, etc). These events just wouldn't happen to John 117.

Now, it is possibly his flash clone? (I'm joking)

To be honest the top three are really closely related.
Spliting them up would just cause all three to appear in all three threads.

You cant relate the wavs to the text without commenting on the characters and vice versa

like I said. since some people are going with this time travel thing, why couldn't it be master chief before evn the first halo? maybe this halo will be a prequel? or maybe it is a movie coming out about the storyline leading up to halo?

Chief is about 21-24 when halo 1 happens. I'm pretty sure.

James J: You knew that. You knew. Maybe not in so many words, but you knew. Didn't you? I should've said. It's on me. My unit. I should've controlled the situation.
Jan: I'm sorry.
James J: You're 17. For god's sake it's not your job.

This makes me think that maybe Jan ISN'T a Spartan herself (despite her abilities), but we do know that James is in the military. Maybe Jan, knowing she's super-skilled and/or super-fit, was trying to help James out. He's clear: it's not her responsibility. This seems to me to indicate there is more likely to be a familial link than a purely military one.

I don't think that Jan is a Spartan, but I do think that she's a candidate in Ackerson's supersoldier program. If you're not familiar with the Halo storyline, here's a quick rundown of the Spartans and such.

Dr. Halsey and her team selected a series of individuals that showed genetic superiority. At age 6, they were kidnapped and replaced with "flash clones" that would die off around the age of 20 due to neural defects. From the age of 6, they were trained as soldiers, and were biologically conditioned to be bigger, faster, and stronger than everyone else. At age 14, they received surgically implanted augmentations which heightened their strength, speed, reflexes, sight...you name it. Many of them died in the augmentation process. Those that were left went on, eventually inheriting the top-secret MJOLNIR armor from Dr. Halsey, which further increased their speed, strength, and reflexes. The average Spartan was well over seven feet tall and weighed over two tons while in armor. They are capable of tremendous feats of strength, and can sprint at something like 45 km/h (taking a guess here, don't exactly remember.) Their reflexes are so fast that to the normal eye, it appears that they're precognitive. Their armor itself utilizes captured Covenant energy shield technology, as well as refractive plating on top of ballistic armor which disperses plasma weapons fire, in addition to reflecting ballistic fire. It contains a crystalline structure of complexity on par with most starships, which is capable of supporting an AI.

Colonel Ackerson is a member of the Office of Naval Intelligence, and holds a lot of contempt for Dr. Halsey and her SPARTAN program. He considers the Spartans to be "freaks", and apparently has his own supersoldier program codenamed "S3" (Spartan III?) underway. His contempt for the Spartans as freaks would likely indicate that his own candidates wouldn't be as...unique as the Spartans. Rather, they'd likely appear to be more normal members of the poplace, though they'd obviously have some traits that set them apart. This is pure speculation, as no details were revealed to us regarding the S3 program - we only have details on what Ackerson disdains, and can therefore assume that he will not be following hte same path. Jan seems to fit into this profile, and her father's status as a member of the military and likely status as an ONI spook tends to increase the probability that she's somehow connected to Ackerson via ONI.

Whew. That was a mouthfull.

Way out:

Chiefs birth year: 2511
Halo: 2552

Chief is 41 in halo 1

I would speculate that Jan:
- Is incredibly strong, fast, agile, smart
- Is a member of James's "Unit"
- May or may not be James's true "Daughter"
- Is the result of, or contains a secret important enough to cause James to cause the Police Station fire.

James:
- Is the leader of a "Unit" most likely consisting of others like Jan
- Is or was a member of SPECIAL Special Ops for the Navy (?)
- Has significant clout and resources to cause the station fire and spring Jan
- Has reason to protect Jan as well as destroy any results of tests performed on her (retinal, urine, hair, vocal)

Jersey:
- Is interested in Jan on multiple levels
- Is a military child
- Has a computer taken over by Durga
- Has Durga "Ghost" Jan, possibly causing ramifications.

I'm fairly certain the Chief is in his 40s around the time of the Halo game, though I don't have the books in front of me to verify that.

How about this bit of [SPEC]:
The original Melissa was on a military mission and was infected by something (flea/seeker?) something else happened and she was "jettisoned" back in time/space into Jersey's computer and began the same process she is executing on ilovebees. So, could she have been multiple jettisoned to multiple time/space locations? I.E. the same event that put her in Jersey's computer put her in ilovebees.
