I figured, I just didn't want to state anything as FACT when I wasn't sure if it was being accepted as such.

She was called Walkaway girl BEFORE she jumped down three stories over the fence. Maybe Pillow has a better reference for the nickname.

He goes to school with her and my recolection of the Pillow transript implies that she is an object of lust for the boys as the school. She is also refered to as HOT by the scurity folks. If she lives in the same building she would be a easy first target.

This is actually the second reference to tuna (both impying an expensive food/dining experience). It sticks in my head as an odd thing to have been explicitly pointed out is such a small(ish) subset of audio files.

It a time of war immigration is usually tightly controlled. Especially when (if our timelines are correct) a alien armada is just off the doorstep and there is a total news blackout.

Well, decoding the mp3s to wavs and performing an alphanumeric grep on them seems to yield nothing of value.

Right, I get that, I was just using that situation as an example since we have very little knowledge about her past.

Hey remember how people have been saying a few of this axon sites are duds? Well how are we supposed to get 210 axons if some are duds? and even then, it'd take quite awhile to get all the axons, so I believe that after pillow goes hot, then we're gonna get something new, hopefully something other than auido clips because, they're taking us no where.

More stego...

after running a few of these audio files through mp3steg software i couldn't decode them.

I was operating off the assumtion that they recorded the conversations then split them then steged them.

What if they recorded than steged then split. This could be why we have the cue sounds in the files.

Are any of the conversations 100% complete and in order?

Any guesses at passwords besides putting there titles in order?

MP3 is so lossy I would think it would be near imposible to retain any data after compression to MP3 and then transcoding(?) to wave. In fact IIRC wave is not in an of itself a CODEC and is instead a container format that accespts a number of 'plug-in' CODECs. Hence, .WAV files that use the MP3 codec.

Theorizer, here is my theory Wink

Pretend for a moment that you are an AI (I am presuming you are not. If you are please except my apologies as it is not meant as a slur Wink ). Everything that you sense is from remote devices (endpoints). You start 'wake up' in a odd place and start feeling around for endpoints (you open your ears and eyes). Obviously they are not there because you are not within the system you are expecting. You flail around looking for anything close. Melissa does this and she stumbles on the phone system and payphones as endpoints for in and outbound voice. Feeling your way around from inside the system what is the likely hood that you will hit 100% valid live functioning phones? No to high. That would explain each segment given seven chances.

Stepping META for a second, I can not imagine (other then burning time before the next phase) that the PMs would expect 100% hits at all locations and make us wait weeks for the last one or two stragglers to 'go hot' when they would add exactly zero to the plot or story continuation.

well, we're close to 100 axons. 105 might be nice, get half of them.

I think i know why some Axons were duds....

ALOT of people at the sites even said, they spent ALONG time on the phone, asking to repeat ALOT... so they could pass it around.. maybe this caused the next axon to be skipped, so they could at least keep in track with th times...

for 1, G4oria was on site for 2 of them, and at one outside a mesuemthey passed it around 8 times so everyone could hear it.... thats prolly why some didnt work

This theory of "repeat made my axon cold" is intriguing but not too smart. (no offense intended, honestly, but follow the argument)

[META]
1) the PMs are only using one phone line
2) the phone line is tied up when someone says repeat and the call lasts more than 3 minutes.
3) The next axon then cannot ring on time, and is therefore abandoned.

the problem with this hypothesis is that the PMs only used one phone line, and expected this to be enough. (Why set up a game where the player can disrupt it so easily? You wouldn't. They could have easily set up the program to only repeat once or something if they wanted to...)
[/META]

So I think people were at a non-working phone, the wrong phone, a mistake axon (it's been happening all along), or (gasp!) there were intended duds. It's all possible, although I tend to think that we have had more mistake axons than anything else (except for people who say "Your name is I LOVE BEES!" and don't know why they didn't get the audio clip to heat the axon! Rolling Eyes )

i haven't messed with it much but i think if we find the right speed/pitch/eq we might find something.

I've been playing with the "tape speed" sounds for a good few hours now, and I don't believe that there is enough tonal variation in the sounds to make it seem like a voice. The sounds are just too linear, and, when slowed down considerably, vary at such regular intervals that it just doesn't make any sense at all as as speech.

It's possible that the sounds are just tape noise after all and nothing more.

Yes, the PM's could technically make several calls at once, but could Melissa? If we are to believe that she is actually calling each phone in sequence then it may make sense that she can only handle 1 phone call at a time.
