I'm more interested in time-period than place, really.

One way or the other, these coversations have already happened, even if they're yet to happen.

But, my Spec for it being Earth:
Aiden works around Earth Immigration. He's dining in Atlanta, if IRC and not "Buffalo, New York"

She references "New York" blatently. I could see cities on other colonies named after Earth cities. This is used in Ray Bradbury's Martian Chronicles, but to have an extra terrestrial "Buffalo" in an extra terrestrial "New York", and not have it called "New Buffalo" is a stretch.

Maybe but how would they know that it is Earth? As in the homeplanet of those stinking apes. It would just list as a forerunner planet.

Someone would have to say, yeah thats Earth right there, remember they were assembling a 500 strong fleet to attack earth, if it was a forerunner planet (like reach) they would only send about 70. They KNEW it was the homeworld of the humans not a random planet belonging to the forerunners.

 		Why is this on Earth?

Well, the aiden/sophia/kemal/hiro storyline DEFINITELY takes place on Earth... references to Atlanta and Buffalo, New York are made. NO references to the war are made, indicating this could be pre-contact.

The jen/james/jersey/durga storyline probably takes place during the war... lots of references to the Navy and the Marines in this one.

 		i think coral was where the mc was originally from, or was it destroyed in the 1st or 3rd book. it sounds familiar... i never read the 2nd book since a friend described it to me, and it sounded exactly like a novelization of halo 1

Which book are you missing? The flood?

Well, the first time i heard of coral was during that exchange in the .wavs The only human outer colonies mentioned in the books are sigma octanus, reach, the asteroid fields, jericho and in eridanus where the chief is from.

Well do you think they knew the artifact from the museum had the coordinates for a Halo?

Another, probably less acceptable, answer is that that's just the way they wrote the story. No explanation.
