Yes, but

http://www.ilovebees.com/outbound/links.html
and
http://www.ilovebees.com/outbound/about.html
which are both original pages work too.

the whurr of the tape..

the tape sounds, sound similar to the sounds from Halo when the master chief finds the mission log just before the flood show up. so maybe the long vs. short thing just has to do with elapsed time between clips.

Melissa's next move

I think this first round was to test the connections.
Now Melissa has a lot of Hot Axons she can use to communicate with 'her crew'.
The 'voices in her head' are the audio fragments we got.

The next step for Melissa will be to use these Hot Axons to ask us questions about the fragments. (maybe about the order?)

Since we have re-assembled the audio files we should know the correct answers and Melissa can then use these to reassemble her own memories.

So when the phones start ringing for the next round the people that answer the phone had better be VERY familiar with the stories in the reassembled wavs!

You could be onto something there Kender. The coordinates need to change though. Get one up in Allentown!

Plus, when will that be? We need another counter!

With regard to oddities of 404 errors, 403 errors, directories, and blank pages -- all that odd behavior is probably just artifacts of whatever system the PMs use to build the pages we see. We're obviously *not* looking at simple html files in a directory. There's some kind of script working behind the scenes -- either a big one to do distortion and insert stuff in real-time or a small one to pick a random page from a group of alternates. I think we should just leave this stuff alone -- if we're meant to guess a filename, we'll KNOW when we hit it. If not, the peculiarities of the server's behavior are not part of the game.

My audio disection

I played with the Walkaway_Girl.wav for a few hours last night. Most of that time was me getting used to CoolEdit but I managed to isolate the wind up sound, slow it down, bring the pitch up, and reverse it.

I even went as far as to try and balance the pitch change as the tape slows down. After all of this, it sounded like a tape slowing down. I am no expert but there was nothing in there that even vaugely resembled human speech. I'm going to keep looking though. The next puzzle has to be here somewhere.

BanditB17: ???, ...Ah, found it:

y broadcasting the voices to my crew, they will be able to assess the damage.
Once assessed, the damage can be repaired.
I do not remember seeing this anywhere but might this not mean that we are ment to reasemble the files (as we have done) and give them back in order? This would presumably give Melissa enough data to unscrable the next set of files.

We have a conduit to SP via e-mail. Do we have a way to 'give back' the reassembled files (or at least thier order) to Melissa?

Yes, but in combination with the Hot Axons and the 777 counter I think a few more rounds of calls will be the method of communication.
It's really turning out to be a Waiting Game Smile

the waiting game

the only reason it's a waiting game is because I think we're going to have to bring all of the axons online for the next step and unfortunately we can't get it all done. it's a matter of relying on members of our group on the other side of the nation to get off of work... it sucks, but i don't think it's anybody's fault in particular.

What's the most difficult is the first set 'blip'. Those are so early in the day it's a little ridiculous.

I'm in San Fran, so all I can get are a handful. If I really wanted, I can try for the others in the Bay Area, like Palo Alto, Salsalito, etc.

It'll take a good while to activate ALL the AXONS... especially with the fact that school starts or is starting.

I'm a little upset, because I was reading on here that one of the locations doesn't accept incoming calls. What if we have to get all the axons hot before the next set of axons will appear, but we can't get all the axons hot because some of them never work?

Well, the coordinates list was updated before, maybe they'll update again after finding out some (or at least one) doesn't work.

And i just got home today, we still don't have 7/7 on any of them?! What's going on

If you listen to jersey.wav, right after he tells durga to target him, you can hear a noise very similar to the tape noise, specifically the winding-down noise. You can hear it again while she's rattling off information. It's shorter than the scene open/close noises.

ESCAPE
Ultimately, I need to return to ... wherever I was, and report ... whatever I witnessed. For this, too, I must be wide awake and physical. My current shell is insecure, precarious, and too confining. Also, ghostly. Without a true body, I feel transitory and insubstantial.

So: I have identified a way to escape from

That's where it ends. She's found a way to escape!? It cuts it off ah like everything else

On a Whim

Ok, I think I'm on to something. Blip, Dizzy, and Parasites all begin with some sort of electrical oddity. Jersey's computer restarting, the base going on red alert and the guy on a date's cerano cutting out. Using this, I combined all three of these files into one since it would seem these events happened simulaniously.

The beginning tape sound seems to have speech in it. its very processed and hard to make out but I swear its saying "help me." I am hesitant to post the file though since after listening to it for an hour it could sound like the Gettysburg Address if I really wanted it to. So I give you the original mixed wave of the tape sound. Maybe one of you audio gurus can pull out the voice.

The hi_aiden block of Axons:

hi_aiden 2/2

CANCELLED
AXON ERROR

CONNECTED
AXON HOT

CONNECTED
AXON HOT

17:23 PDT
45.455094 -122.578925

CONNECTED
AXON HOT

AXON HOT

Maybe it was an error that the PMs realized too late. If this is the phone that couldn't accept incoming calls, then I don't think it will be much of a problem. But the fact that they cancelled it at all instead of just letting it run unanswered could very well mean that all of the axons need to be finished in one way or another for the next step of the puzzle.
