Confirmed Idaho Addresses

I've sent this to aveena to hopefully fill out more and get on the http://melangerie.com/bees/ site, but using http://payphone-directory.org/ and http://www.geocode.com/modules.php?name=TestDrive_Eagle I've matched up exactly all but one of the Idaho pay-phones. I'm sure that this will work for most (if not all) of the others too. And seeing as how the goecode tool only allows 25 "test drives" per person, I'm sure we'll need lots of help to fill it out. I'm going to try to hit the Utah addresses next (my old stomping grounds).

So for all you Idahoans, here's exactly where you want to be to get your axons hot.

Occupied phones

Hey People I just had a thought. If you have had a occupied phone before and you go back again, If the phones are unocuupied when you get there and you get there early enough place an out of order sign on the phone and hopefully you can get the call from Melissa.

Well, The Ouroboros, his friend Austin and I scoped out the 0843 site in Kissimmee, no calls. However, the pay phone listing web site gives a phone number that is no longer at the coordinates in question (it's someone's house about five minutes drive away). So... unless the coordinates/phone number changes, I'll try to call that person about fifteen minutes before the go-live time and convince them that not only am I not some kind of nutcase, but how to answer the call. Whee!

In any case, the bad number is 407-396-4638. DO NOT CALL IT - this person likely has no idea what is going on other than a strange phone call every day at the same time. If it looks like this number is going to be called again tomorrow, I'll make polite contact.

If someone were to, say, adjust the coordinates or phone number Wink , we scouted the existing numbers:

The actual number at McDs: 407-396-7501.
Next door at the gift shop: 407-396-7316 (not on the payphone site)
Denny's: 407-396-6234 or 407-396-6236 (based on the site - The Ouroboros wrote them down and can confirm later)

The Ouroboros was also going to get the one in the Clarion hotel, which is also not on the site.

I dunno if I'll go back out again tomorrow if the coordinates don't change, I'm not sure I want to count on someone correcting the phone number. In any case, nice meeting you Zach and Austin (and everyone else yesterday, too).

2. I didn't answer the phone, some girl did. She said that it didn't ask her to answer anything. She seemed to be trying very hard to hear the mesage so she may have missed what she needed to say.
3. I really can't wait here in town that late in the day, I have to go back to Denton(school) in the morning. Maybe one of the other 6-7 people may go back.
4. It was the right-hand(of the 2 phones) phone at a 7-11 store. Verizon Payhone.

I went back today to get this axon to go hot. Here's what happened;

I sat in my car in front of the phones waiting. 9:45 PDT rolled around and for the 15 minutes I had been there, there was no activity. I was the only beekeeper there. So, I was checking my watch and when I looked up some lady was there. AT THE SAME PHONE THE RANG YESTERDAY! Ugh. She finished her call quickly and as she walked away it RANG. I jumped to answer, but the voice on the other end was not the operator. It was some guy asking for whoever just called him. So I gave the phone back to her and at 9:48 PDT she hung up. I realized that I had missed the call. I waited for awhile, but I'm sure that it was dialing other axons by then.

So here's the thing. I can't go back tommarrow; I'll be over an hour away. I know there's a few other beekeepers and lurkers in the area so somebody please go back there. Again, I was the only one there today. I stand by my belief that we need to try and get as many axons hot as possible.

Yes, for the Chicago four_goats 14:08 PDT axon, I picked up the receiver a few times during the appropriate minute. Nothing but dialtone. I noted that in my post on the topic, too.

6:07 (9:07 EST) Washington DC
The map coordinates for this phone appear to put it *inside* the Museum of Natural History. This would be fine, except that the museum isn't open until 10am. The closest outdoor phone is located here (blue square):

I arrived there this morning, and the phone was already staked out by ultimastrike. I mentioned this forum to him and left for work; he posted above that the call didn't come to the outdoor phone. Many thanks to ultimastrike.

9:14 (12:14 EST) Washington DC
The map coordinates for this phone put it inside a construction site. There is an apartment building in about the right place that probably has a pay phone (most apartments do), but only a resident can get inside. I checked the area for other phones, and found two located here (blue squares):

BOTH phones were in use at 12:14, but the phone on the corner was released at around 12:14:30... I waited at that phone in hopes it was the correct phone and would ring, but there was no joy.

Failed at 7:19

1. 7:19 -- 41.360234 -72.870524 (N. Universal Dr., North Haven)
2. Phone did not ring. (unverified if phone working)
3. I am unable to return due to work.
4. The phone we stood at was in the Showcase Cinemas parking lot. The actual coordinates were at the north entrance to the lot. We figured that phone was the closest. None of us knew what to expect, though.

Orlando Axon

Great to meet you too, Koju.

It pretty much went as he said...we waited and no ring. The problem with that location is that there are so many phones scattered so far apart, yet close enough to register near those coordinates. It is near Disney after all. Maybe they should have picked one of the Disney Hotels near there. It would be easier to discern the location, and I believe one has statues of Dolphins. The fish, not the mammal. They kind of look like huge tuna. Wink

After checking out the Clarion more carefully, I decided not to record the number there. It appears to be a privately owned machine with internet access, that youy have to pay heavily to use. It would have been an interesting place to have an axon pop up. In the Halo-verse the UNSC have Clarion spy drones, they they use for remote viewing.

I too don't think I'll try to activate that axon unless we find that something special happens when all 7 in a group are hot. It wouldn't surprise me if that is the case.

Another side note: There is are bus stops along that road. Ones I assume Disney uses as public transportation. They all have names instead of numbers. A few hundred yards before you reach the coordinates I noticed that one bore the name "Halsey Station". I'm not kidding. Funny.

Still, I had a good time hunting through the humidity, even though I did not get to hear Melissa's sweet voice.

My GPS unit led me right to the middle of a softball field inside a giant little leage sports complex. The nearest phone location was impossible due to the fact that the phone had been ripped out of the booth.

And because I didn't get there early enough (1 hour drive in rush hour) I couldn't locate any other phones in time. I later found another phone a little ways away that could have been the right one, but the time had already passed. I tried to *69 this phone, but the 9 button didn't work Evil or Very Mad

Other people were looking for phones near a Dave & Busters a few miles away, but the GPS coordinates were off a little at the D&B, so I followed my GPS to this sports complex. Still not sure which phone was supposed to ring.

If no one makes it today or tomorrow, I will try again, probably at the complex again.

11:53

43.569299 -116.214454 11:53 11 km SE of Boise Idaho eyes

Should have been at the Kopper Kitchen 208-342-9625 as per http://payphone-directory.org/ The actual phone# is 208-332-[9775/9975] (can't remember now that I'm trying to type it). Yesterday (with 13 of us there) there were 2 calls at the correct time, one asking for bob, one silent then *click*. Today I waited (all alone) from 11:35-12:15 PDT and there was not a single call.

Attempts: 3
Failures: 3
Crying or Very sad

I may be at the 43.605803 -116.211713 16:27 Boise Idaho pillow tonight. On second thought maybe I won't ... seems I'm bad luck for getting connected Rolling Eyes

El Paso, Texas

The Axon in El Paso, Texas didn't go hot because the phone didn't ring.

The phone clearly says: "This phones does not recieve incoming calls" on it.

I got to the only phone anywhere close to the coordinates. Can someone link me to a site that will pinpoint the most accurate point on a map for me, in case my old coordinates were a little off.

Here's my info:
11:01 PDT
31.770577 -106.504111

Thanks.
Just email me at dadepsakSPLATnetscape.net, or Instant message me on AIM at "dadepsak"

Just called the # listed on the http://payphone-directory.org/ For this time, it is the Pizza Hut and they did receive Melissa's call yesterday.

Tried the 208-342-9625, no answer.

SoFresh - I assumed there wasn't phone right there, since it's the outside edge of a parking lot, but isn't there a Pizza Hut or something like that across from the spot on the map? Or did you check inside the nearest mall entrance? Some people are finding the phones pretty far away.

There was way to many businesses to with payphones around that spot. We chose (only two of us) the closet one, but I don't even think is was ringable. Seriously, you would need many people to cover that area.

Update on second Palo Alto law_abiding axon

Did a little recon today over lunch and confirmed that the phone in Rinconada Park (on the wall to the pool building) is of the no incoming calls variety.

No bigs, since law_abiding is 2/2, but it didn't hurt to check Smile

2. Failure Reason: Could not locate a payphone in that location. It's theorized it was a typo in the location.

3. Return Plan: Maybe, but doubtful unless the location updates.

4. There were two payphones across Embarcadero and down the road (Middlefield, NW) a bit, but neither of them accepted incoming calls. When we left we spotted a payphone on the side of a building in RInconada Park (across from Guinda St.) , but didn't not stop to see if it accepted incoming calls.

Getintothegame, nice work activating the axon. Tell me, though, which phone was it? Was it the second phone on the right hand side as you enter the vestibule? That was the one Relationship Saver was crying into the entire time.
