Good, artifact gives us a little more information on Melissa and the Apocalypso. Same nicknames as last transcript, and again, how I hear it.
Young: (coughing)
Old: Well, it's not to everybodies taste.
Young: Ah, no sir.
Old: Shortly before they turned for home, the Apocalypso: heavily cloaked and posted deep in Covenant space, began experiencing some slight but troubling anomalies with their computer systems. Just as her captain decided to bring her home, long-range sensors detected a curious object adrift in space.
Young: Where did you get this? I read the reports, none of this is in here.
Old: The object was roughly the size of a tire. A Covenant artifact of a completely new design unlike anything we've seen before and frankly, pretty unscrutable.
So Melissa became sick before picking up the artifact, interesting. And this might also lend some credence to GunsmithCat's spec that this guy is the Castaway, Jason Morelli. (due to the fact he has intimate knowledge about something that is not in any report, and therefore might have actually been aboard the Apocalypso)

Is it possible that Jason Morelli/the Castaway took the Artifact and
sabotaged the Apocolypso to make sure that there wasn't a report
made on it?

Artifact IS hot.

I have to say, it is kind of cool knowing you are the first person to hear one of the new clips. Even though I knew it would almost immediately be online, still, feels cool.

I was pretty happy that it was still light out for this one...I was asked several times for change as I stood alone, loitering outside a store that had a sign in the window saying "DO NOT LOITER OUTSIDE STORE." But missphinx and Grue(sp? can't find the name in the memberlist...) arrived and I felt a lot better.

I realized I hadn't seen it previously, so I panicked when I realized I didn't know for certain what question Melissa would ask. Luckily it was what ship I was on, and I knew that from the fable axons.

I'm posting this here since, well, this is where the discussion is.

I haven't seen a whole lot of discussion about who is talking in the fragments we're getting from this page. In writing up the transcripts of the files, I'm having a hard time... naming people. The names I'm using on the transcript page are really chumpy. So, I'll tell you what I think and you can all slap me with fish or tell me I rule or something in between.

There is one voice common to all the sets so far, and that's the man I've named 'Crotchety'. Its a really stupid name, and I need something else to call him. He is obviously some sort of intelligence guy. I've seen some spec floating around that he is Jason Morelli, which sort of makes sense given his knowledge of what's not in the reports, but it could also be that he was whoever JM was reporting to (if JM is supposed to have been on the Apocalypso when it crashed, he certainly wasn't the guy pretending to complain in hello->goodbye... which makes me think he was a reporting contact). I'm going to change his name to 'Major_Intel' until we get a better name for him.

The other one I'm struggling on is the younger voice in this most recent set. I am leaning toward him being the underling type who came in during goodbye. I am going to name him 'Pvt_Aide', because he seems to be Major_Intel's assistant.

And where, you ask, is the spec in this naming? Well, I'd mostly like to hear what other people think about the voices. Are these really the same people? What do you think?

I don't think I can enhottenate Standish, but I will take a shot at it tomorrow. The location is a Sunoco station that's been closed for a while. I don't think there's a working phone there anymore, but I'll check.

Oh yeah, and I'll be sure to check the ILB WEBSITE before I go out, just in case MELISSA feels like choosing a different nearby location (cough)HINT(cough).

You know, I'm pretty sure he doesn't say C&C, but instead says CNC, which could be the Chatter Network. *shrug*

Just a thought, though I could be wrong, it has been known :p

I was thinking the same sort of thing. But I remembered seeing C&C written out somewhere before, so back to the Operator's Monologue.

It could still mean something about their chatternetwork though.

I'm glad you got that axon Thoth, but this thread is to discuss the axons that are on www.ilovebees.com/recipe3.html not the ones on www.ilovebees.com/fable.html. This may be a better place for such posts in the future.

Sorry, Standish is definitely not on a payphone. As I suspected, the site is a shut-down Sunoco station. I'm sure there used to be a payphone there. There's a phone a little ways down on the other side of the street, in front of Campus Cleaners at 43.091979 -077.677838. I don't know if it takes incoming calls, but it's probably the closest public accessable phone. I'll try to get out there tomorrow, unless some RIT students lurking about can get to it.

alt_burgundy is now hot. Sounds as though it takes place right before artifact. Here is the transcript.
Young: I requested the post excerpt/posting sir(not sure on that one)
Old: You did?
Young: Yes sir.
Old: Why?
Young: It's hard to recall sir.
Old: (laughs) All right, I deserve that.
Young: (pouring drink) Yes sir. Here's your drink.
Old: You've never had an alt burgundy Lieutenant?
Young(Lieutenant): Umm, no sir.
Old: You know why?
Young: I don't drink.
Old: Eh, they don't make it anymore.
Young: Regrettable sir. Perhaps the scent. Tar is it sir? Was not to everyone's taste.
Old: They don't make it because alt burgundy comes from Jericho 7.
Young: Oh.
Old: K(he says something, not sure about it)
Young: I'm sorry sir.
Old: Oh hell, you weren't even born. Pour yourself a drink lieutenant.
Young: I don't... very well sir. (pours drink)
Old: Here's to Jericho that fell, and a Sigma Octanus 4 that did not.
Young: Here, here sir.
(clanking glasses)

Do we have any information on any of those two places, Jericho 7 and Sigma Octanus 4? It could help to establish a timeline if we do.

Jericho VII fell in 2535. Sigma Octanus IV was invaded and successfully defended in 2552. If the Lieutenant was born after the fall of Jericho IV, assuming that he's at least 18, this places the timeframe of the WAV files after the events of Halo (which happen in 2552).

Commonalities

Edit: having read some more of the foregoing posts I see that the text I previously wrote is redundant so I bracketed it. So we can assume these recordings are all of the same person. If this is the Castaway, Jason Morelli, it would be Melissa doing the recording but I don't know how to make this fit timewise into the overall story.

If you recall Jason Morelli was posting sound waves to confuse the enemy, we have to remember that as I don't know which, if any, of the waves we have heard may, in fact, have been fabricated to fool the enemy. I think these are real.

[Does it sound to you as if all of these waves involve the same person speaking? I'm not good with voices but it sounds like the "older" guy the one drinking in alt_burgandy is the same as in candidate?]

My opinion, the SP is giving us this stuff so we know what the Pious Flea is accessing from Melissa-- but were these waves recorded by Durga? Are they in the same time frame as the others that we have from Melissa?

Why are these so special? They are clearly confidential conversations dealing with military secret information.

I am still trying to put it all together in my head and I hope to post something before the next Tuesday update that ties all the plot lines together in a plausible way.
