Ok, I guess I won't bother with the Campus Cleaners one tomorrow.

Does the little Liquor store across from the old Sunoco have a payphone by any chance? What about that office thing on the same side as the Sunoco?

BTW, I took out a GPS today and confirmed the location. Maps AND GPS both indicate the axon is dead on top of the defunct Sunoco. Unless Melissa re-routes the axon, we aren't going to get Standish.

Standish:

Ok, after some digging around on geocode.com, I found out the the coords for Standish map directly to:

22 Jefferson Rd
Rochester, NY 14623

Now, I googled parts of this address and couldn't find anything. I don't know if this maps to a payphone in some other state or city on Jefferson Rd - possibly the GMs messed up the zip code or something when they entered it. I haven't found anything yet.

There IS a 22 Jefferson Ave in Rochester, which I will try to scope out today. Any help regarding this would be appreciated.

Have you checked out all the locations around 22 Jefferson Rd?

Yes. Scott has. See http://www.livejournal.com/users/skotte/

I checked out 22 Jefferson AVE, and believe me, it's not an axon. It's not a part of town I ever want to visit again - let's just leave it at that. There's no payphone around at all.

Well, I am out of ideas for Standish. The only things I know for certain now:

1. The GMs typed in "22 Jefferson Rd. Rochester, NY (14623)" in order to get that axon coord.

2. There has not been a working phone at 22 Jefferson Rd. for over a year.

3. The nearest phone (39 Jefferson Rd.) was staked out by Scott, and does not accept incoming calls.

Standish is somehow a mistake, and unless Melissa fixes it, I don't think we're getting the Standish wav.

oh! i fForgot there is another 'jefferson' in the area. It's absolutely nowhere near the axon coords, nor is it possible in any way to mistake the two even a little bit. jefferson ave is in a slum of a slum area, entirely residential. i strongly doubt there are any payphones there. I quite believe improvius when he says there are no payphones.

[WILD SPEC]

This is just some crazy thoughts, but couldn't "343GS" be the "artifact". Theres not much evidence but the artifact.wav. which says:

"...a curious object adrift in space..the object was roughly the size of a tire, a Covenant artifact of a completly new design unlike anything we've seen before and frankly pretty unscruttable."

and also from Melissa's shipboard memories:
"...a squat cylinder of dull gray metal, about the size of a suitcase..."

If you've seen the ending of Halo, past the credits, you get to watch a little clip that shows that 343GS survived the Halo incident. He would just be adrift in space, or I mean where would he go? Some of the evidence seems to match up:

1.343GS is an "cylinder"
2.To the humans who had never seen a Forerunner object, they would mistake for a Covenant object.

AHF: no, that makes a **scary** amount of sense. My main problem with the whole forerunner-artifact theory was "wtf is a forerunner artifact doing in deep space when all the ones we've seen so far have been planet-based?"

But 343GS is a forerunner artifact, and he is in deep space... and he has special reasons of his own for wanting to get into human space.

The question *then* becomes: why does having 343GS aboard your ship cause an entire solar system's comm channels to go on the fritz when you crash out of slipspace?

This is all very wonderful spec, but it doesn't really have much to do with making the coords on recipe3.html hot...

Is there a known phone number for the Standish axon, and does it ring? If it did, and someone picked up, we could ask them where the phone is - especially if the phone number was reassigned.

Otherwise it's time to petition the Princess!

(edited my stupid comments after re-reading your post)

I found no record whatsoever of a phone at or near this location on either of the online payphone directories. I googled the address (22 jefferson rd rochester) and found nothing, so I have no idea how the GMs got it. I don't know how we could go about finding a number for a payphone that used to be at a Sunoco station that has been closed for over a year.

If we could somehow figure out how the GMs got that address (22 Jefferson Rd, Rochester, NY (14623)) then we might have something. But I am all out of ideas.

We are not getting Standish unless they pick a new axon location.

Young: I'm sorry sir.
Old: Oh hell, you weren't even born. Pour yourself a drink lieutenant.

I believe "Old" is saying "came." He originally said it "comes" from Jericho 7, which doesn't exist anymore, so he corrects himself and says "came".

I don't think we'll be getting any Axons. I think a lot of players are fed up with the Axons and are beginning to revolt. Confused

It's not that we're fed up - we've tried as hard as we can to get Standish, and it's not going to happen.

Anyway, what's the story on cranky_old_man? I haven't read anything about any problems finding it. Surely we have some folks in Minneapolis who can check it out.
