This is just some crazy thoughts, but couldn't "343GS" be the "artifact". Theres not much evidence but the artifact.wav. which says:

"...a curious object adrift in space..the object was roughly the size of a tire, a Covenant artifact of a completly new design unlike anything we've seen before and frankly pretty unscruttable."

and also from Melissa's shipboard memories:
"...a squat cylinder of dull gray metal, about the size of a suitcase..."

If you've seen the ending of Halo, past the credits, you get to watch a little clip that shows that 343GS survived the Halo incident. He would just be adrift in space, or I mean where would he go? Some of the evidence seems to match up:

1.343GS is an "cylinder"
2.To the humans who had never seen a Forerunner object, they would mistake for a Covenant object.

--I could be very wrong..and it that case just delete or ignore this post

Besides, on NetNinja, it quotes it having the "bars and triangles, dots and squares" around the rim of the artifact. 343 Guilty Spark adorned none of the Forerunner hieroglyphics from what I recollect on the game (and in novel).

Somebody hit me with a link (MQ / aerial) - or specific info if you've got it - and time for that MPLS axon. I've got Wednesday and Thursady afternoon off and I'm dedicating them to hunting.

I went hunting at the U yesterday morning, and came up with nothing... there's a lot of ground to cover by myself Sad

...
...
...

I just PM'd a few folks who've mentioned trying to hit MN / MPLS axons before... let's see if they want to get organized!

cedmond - note my sticky above - how many axons, how many people? I suggested a CO axon several days ago and was ignored, so I just don't want it to go to waste or further subdivide discussions if it won't help much ...

Standish is now in downtown Denver somewhere. Across the highway and a couple blocks from Invesco Field. Any takers? 11:31 PDT

And of course the crazy_old_man remains available at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. 12:41 PDT

Someone *please* hook me up with a link to an MQ map and an Acme aerial shot for that cranky_old_man axon. I'll scout it Tomorrow and try to make it hot on Thursday, but I'm getting no love from MQ or Acme right now when I try to put in the coords myself.

Sorry for the repeat request, but I'm really eager to get his one. Since I'm (for the time being) operating on my own, good intel is the most important thing to help me answer that call.

I think he's looking for this: mapquest and this: acme for cranky_old_man from the recipe3 page.

Perfect, thanks. Sadly... ugh. I've done some scouting in this area before, and the campus is a nightmare of 1-and2 payphone banks hidden all over the various buildings. Gonna do some serious recon tomorrow night, try to answer some phones on Thursday (priority on thin_kinkle and cranky_old_man since we're on borrowed time for them), and then go back for another go on Friday.

.. And here I thought that my 'light work week' would be about relaxing at home Smile
