I'm not going to be on the hunt tonight. Meat world things are taking priority and I won't be able to get back out in the field until Sunday. . by which time I really hope someone else has found it.

No response from Dana to my email, which isn't surprising. Still, hopefully it got through, so someone may want to check the 56 Dean Street phones on the veeeery small chance that the PMs got the number wrong and have now been corrected. The northern most box outside St Anne's church is still unchecked as well, and about as decent a candidate we have as any.

Good luck!

I know Thoth has been trying with no luck... and he sounds like he's getting quite discuraged. If we could find someone else to help out in that area and/or get the Axon moved to a new phone. It looks like Thoth has combed that area and has had no luck. Bad ringer on the phone?

Edit: Bad BBCode 'no soup for you...'

Actually I think Thoth is trying to get the Minnesota axon. As of yet I haven't seen or heard of anyone trying to get the Burlington one.

You're right... my bad. Hope I didn't confuse anyone (but myself).

Still we do need to do something for Thoth and the Minnesota Axon. Anyone in that area? If not should we Email the Sleeping Princess to see if she can get the Axon relocated?

Attempts to influence Axon locations would seem to be best addressed to SP. Dana has no role in the axons. If I can guess one thing about the PMs of this game, they will try to keep the story scupulously in game. Notes to Dana should not be able to alter actions by SP and Melissa. Perhaps SP could do something, but I don't see how Dana could.

I've been back to campus a couple of times since the last time I tried for c.o.m., just trying to find other candidates for the phone. I'm pretty sure that I've gone through more university halls than most students Smile

I'm pretty confident that we can rule out anything north-west, west, south west, and south of the MQ / Acme location for the coords. For anybody who might know the area - or who is more industrious than I, and has found a decent map online - I have taken the MQ / Acme result, and gone through every building south of the coord, and everything in a clockwise arc all the way to the Northrop area of campus at the Church St. garage.

There was one phone that could take incoming calls near where the MC / Acme result had pointed, just inside the Church St. entrance for the Mayo Building. I waited there from 10 minutes to, to 10 minutes past the time when the call was supposed to come, but got nothing. There was a phone that was pretty much bang-on where the coords pointed, but it didn't take calls.

Although I didn't get the recent drink_the_beer axons (I'm pretty sure I scouted them, but was unable to get away from work to answer the phone after that), I'm confident that one was in the Northrop area (the coords pointed to the center of that area), and the other was probably in the Alumni Center.

Presuming that the coords for the 2 d.t.b. axons gives us a kind of 'invisible fence' to tell us where c.o.m. *isn't*, the search area can be narrowed down to about 12 campus buildings and 1 hotel lobby, plus about 20 storefronts along Washinton Avenue.

The next chance I'll have for scouting is going to be Saturday night, and if I cut it close for work on Sunday I can try for the phone then. Again, one of the biggest problems I'm facing is that if I find a couple of candidates, I can only watch one of them. All of my friends just give me strange looks when I ask them if they want to help me answer a phone Smile

Right - the SP put the recipe3 clips and locations there, so she should be in a position to change them. I know they UK team members have posted a lot of info here; have they sent pertinent info to SP? "Can't find phone" "try this one instead" "be sure to dial 011 first..." stuff like that?

Other options - sending updated phone information to the payphone website(s) that may have been a source for the axon. That may work for cranky_old_man but I hesitate to tell someone to road trip back there just to get accurate information about phone numbers to send to the sites.

And probably can't offer that for Vermont because, to our knowledge, nobody has even been able attempt to find that axon and thus can't correct the payphone info.

. . . .Actually, I e-mailed Dana. It seemed more in game at the time to go 'hey, want to hear about the single international axon?'.

*headdesk*

I'll edit and email the Princess now.

I heard that the London axon was chosen in person. That's rumour though but does make sense as there aren't any uk payphone directories that I can find.

One of the Wadour Street phonebooths obviously hadn't had its information updated in a while, it still had the old 017 area code listed. Of course, that doesn't work anymore and I had to change it to the new 020 7 code to check the booth could take calls, but if the axon was scoped out by someone non-local, they may not have known that. It's stuff like this I worry about.

MN Axon

I'm actually on the UofM campus and cannot find it either. I presumed that the PMs used the payphonedirectory site to get the phone #'s, but have had zero luck locating even one! I'm gone for the weekend but may try on Monday. I was really wondering what program I should be using to find the address. Before everyone was using geocode.com, because on some the PM's errored. Anyway, anyone have a map site that has worked for them? Still looking...

I think there may be new locations for these axons tomorrow. Hopefully, one will take a new spot in the UK, one will move to Canada, and the last into my neck of the woods. Then (almost) everyone will be happy!

You are absolutely correct. The new coordinates for cranky_old_man are:

43.893420 -103.425130
Keystone, South Dakota

The others do not look like they have new coordinates yet.

EDIT: Well, I just talked to my wife because all of her family lives in Rapid City, SD and Keystone, SD. I thought I might be able to convice her to have one of her family members go enhotenate this axon, but she said that her family would think she has lost her mind.

My wife already thinks I'm Screwy because of ILB, but she just doesn't understand.

Anyway, I think there was one person here that was looking for a SD axon, so hopefully they live close to it. If not, I may have to tell my wife that I REALLY want to go visit her family. Very Happy

I have posted what I believe is a more accurate map for the London Axon. I really hope the PMs do not change it. If no one gets it tonight, I will see about coming on Saturday (I might be able to borrow a GPS unit).

chaotic_mind made a big deal about South Dakota. I have PM'd him that the cranky_old_man may now be near him. Fingers crossed!

And Aspmaster - there are no younger kids in the South Dakota branch of your wife's family that you could corrupt/bribe into doing this for you? Any younger ones are likely to have heard about the game on TechTV if nothing else, and might be thrilled to hear it's near them (I speak from experience with my godson [and yes his parents thought we were nuts as we started discussing the game]).

PS apparently this is near Mount Rushmore, if there's anyone out there who needs to cross this national monument off their to-do list. Smile
