And how many have YOU activated? There are 16 axons here and 5 close in Virginia. I've done 2 personally, and supervised 2 more. Chappy has done 2, and INCyr has done 4. We were all there when the phone didn't ring today. We have scoped out one more possibility for tomorrow. Kaziel did several. And on and on. We are missing what, 3 or 4 in downtown DC? One or two are definitely broken phones and the others have invisible phones as far as the several people who tried to find them can tell. Give me a freakin break.

/me gives aliendial and the rest of the DC crew an Axonrophy and a new Axon Tattoo

Wow....another. Anybody got a connection with people from the front line on these? Did they even find a payphone?

I got direct reports from Aliendial, chappy2 and INCyr at the "hello" point. They found a couple phones that took incoming calls, but one was so far away from the point that they focused elsewhere, and the one that was most promising took incoming calls, but never rang...

So phones are still a possibility, but weaker than previously thought, apparently.

Any chance that WE'RE supposed to be doing the calling from these locations? Probably not (caller ID?), but the SP did say 'YOU can spy on them', which to me means some additional proactivity.

I don't know how this could be true, but I do like the fact that additional proactivity may be required. I find it interesting.

Receipt - San Antonio, 14:28 PDT

Do we have anyone at the San Antonio spot?
14:28 PDT is just an hour away.

It looks like it's the front of this small building between the Rivercenter Mall and the Gonzales Conference Center. Right on the river. I can't tell if the building is a museum or what.

This is interesting...however...we have no idea what to call. I don't suppose anybody would be able (or willing) to go through the site's code and search for a 7-digit number (or 10 or 11....)(aka a phone number...with area code and country code).

I shall soil myself if you've stumbled upon something. But it WOULD be cool!

Definition: Axonrophy - (ACK-sawn-row-fee); the atrophy of one's will to look for axons, after many tries with lack of success. (see Axonitis) Cool

i believe we aren't answering phones this time, or at least it's not that simple.

I mean look at the simple fact that, there is about an hour between each coordinate...While that could mean nothing, or one of a million things, I think it's giving you time to do something that may take awhile.

Uh, maybe someone has left something at one of these payphones? Like, on top of the payphone, maybe there is a piece of paper taped with a phone number?

or, search the payphone, they always have things on them "for a good time call"

Maybe you'll see something like "for a hot axon call 555-1212"

The people going to these phones that aren't ringing need to really scope the place out. (of course, I would be careful doing this at the DC axon, don' twanna like get .. arrested or something, heh)

Interesting, but golly I'd hope it was a 800 call. If the PMs expect people to drive an hour or so just to make a long distance call...

Interesting idea, but why have a time or even a location associated with it? Not that it isn't possible, but it seems slightly far fetched that we'd have to call from a specific place at a specific time. Then again, I could always be wrong. Smile

I don't think that would be the case. We're talking software here. Your PC can make a phone call, but there's no way your PC can get up and put a sign up on a pay phone. Like wise, there's no way SP/Queen/Flea could either.

Yep! This logic was what killed the "handing out copies of Halo 2" for me! It wouldn't be true to the nature of the game. Good call!

I saw from the weblog that Dana's number is 1-415-248-2617. I called it and there's a (fairly-badly voice acted) notation from Dana saying she's going away.

I wonder if there's a caller ID setup where the incoming number is accepted from the axon location...

As it looks like we probably don't have to answer phones anymore. But i don't think we're supposed to find something "material" in those places, otherwise they wouldn't give as a time to show up in those places. Probably we have too meet someone... i don't know... i'm still thinking about it. Confused

Right, but in keeping with the game, if the modem is hooked up to the phone line, then perhaps (Melissa/SP/Flea) is monitoring the incoming calls' Caller ID number for the correct axon.

Maybe give it a day or so. If we're not receiving phone calls by then, then perhaps we should try making some at one location at that time.
