Goldmine Hotel www.goldminehotel.com
From the UM update about haunted hotels and a couple of emails to/from Amanda discussed here .

About Us
The Gold Mine Hotel, located in historic Gold Hill, Nevada,
is in an area rich with history and lore of the Old West.
Near Reno, Nevada, Gold Hill was incorporated in 1865, after gold was found in the Comstock Lode. Ironically, many young men going west to search for riches in California came through the town not knowing the very thing they sought lay right beneath their feet in Gold Hill!
When the gold disappeared, so did the town's inhabitants; Gold Hill became a ghost town. It's just recently that gold has been found again, luring people back to the area, and some say, luring the ghosts out of hiding!
Make your reservation to stay at the Gold Mine Hotel
and you could strike it rich!
Opening in January 2005!

SPEC: Infrasound and Mines Trying to tie in the Goldmine Hotel, CMH, and The Infrasound.
Goldmind Hotel and CMH were both build on top of mines.
http://www.cambridgementalhospital.com/history.html
I won't repost the Infrasound thread obviously, but I thought this might be better under this thread than the other. Could this (GMH) have been an alternate site for HoD? The documents we've received about HoD state that CMH was site #4.
What causes infrasound in these instances, if there is any, well who knows at the moment. I've been googling around about more legit causes of infrasound and not Joe Blow the Ghost Hunter's explanation. If I find anything of importance, I'll post -- or not who care's about the likes of you all ... muhahahah!

Oooh, I really like that SPEC!!
By the way, if you call the reservation phone number, you get voicemail saying that they are not accepting reservations until October.
Anyone planning to clear their January calendar for a hotel stay?

Just a little background/current info on the real Gold Hill, NV.
There is a hotel there, the Gold Hill Hotel .
Gold Hill (original name: Slippery Gulch) is the site of the first discovery of the Comstock Lode in February, 1859, and was a major Nevada city embracing some of its richest mines. The mines remain in rusty splendor but the main attraction in modern times is the Gold Hill Hotel .
GOLD HILL HOTEL
1540 SOUTH MAIN STREET
P.O. BOX 710, VIRGINIA CITY
GOLD HILL, NV 89440
Guest Rooms: 14
Year Built: 1859
And it does have a haunted story to go along with the hotel .
Some more pictures .
And I will not be participating in a field trip - this would be more than a 10 hour drive from Las Vegas. Anyone playing who lives in Reno, Carson City or Lake Tahoe?

Based on those pictures alone, does this look like the kind of place that has something like the grand facade shown on the Hotel's homepage?
Also, a Google seach on "Tara Hutchins" (the proprietor) turns up only three pages of results and nothing of interest.

And what is the deal with the little tool tips that pop up over the pictures when you hold your mouse over them?
Most of them just say the filename of the picture.
However, in the Contact Us page, it says "people" over an image called thegoldminepanel.jpg
On the main page, it says "lobby" over a picture called thegoldmine.jpg.
Over a picture of the pie it says "kitchen", while the image is foodpicture.jpg
This may just be me being paranoid, but you can never be sure, and we still don't know what the purpose of this site is.

E-mail Message to Get Info I mailed this to their information address:
Greetings,
I'm the head of a Humanist Group here in Chicago who is interested in hotels with a "Haunted History" such as the Stanley Hotel, the Hotel Colorado, etc.
I was wondering if you knew anything about any histories of paranormal activity around your hotel since you seem to mention "ghost towns" on your front page.
Any information is greatly appreciated.
I'll post up a reply in the interaction section if I get anything.

I do not have the de-stegging software so I can't check myself, but this looks like it could be steg passwords if only these few pictures have the ALT text populated.

dining.jpg has "proposed restaurant interior"
lounge.jpg has "lounge" {to me, it looks as if they are standing in front of slot machines. yippie NV}
ext.jpg has "exterior" {it's the parking lot i guess}
foodpicture.jpg has "specialty desserts" {this is different than what you posted... was it changed?}
thegoldmine.jpg has "the gold mine hotel" {it's the hotel front, again different than what you posted} {EDIT- the same image on a different page has "lobby" as it's alt text}
